Grinding when going into 5th under load?
With the car off can you shift the shifter into 5th position and reverse? Any binding? Pull the boot and make sure the shifter isn't being blocked by anything near the linkage. |

If you can't shift into 5th or reverse and feel it click into place even with the car off it's probably internal. Looks like it's time to pull the tranny and pop her open. Was it gradual or just one day at a light *ding* no more 5th/Reverse? Lower 4 gears shift fine, right? |

Yeah, the lower four gears work fine. Last night, i had 5th and revverse, but today, after parking, i tried reversing, and i couldn't put it into reverse. I had to put it in neutral, and push it out of the spot.

Okay, Thank you.
One more question. Is it possible to put a 6 speed tranny instead of a 5 speed? If it is, what would need to be changed? Last edited by bbtr5; 08-09-2009 at 01:01 AM. |
