Bought my Camaro in December of 2013 and have never used the key to open the door. In the almost five years that I owned my 2008 Saturn Aura I never used the key. On my 2001 Suburban, the only time I've used the key to get in is if I ever let it sit for so long the battery dies. And that's not very often. So in 13 years, I've probably used the key to open it five or six times. In 2007 after it was broken into I put rear handles on the front doors and removed the lock cylinders and the rods that connects them to the latch. So now there isn't even a way to unlock it at the doors.

I use it when I just want to unlock my door, and leave my friend locked out... muhahaha.

I am sitting in a new Buick with same style key as the Camaro , only difference I see is when the key is on in the Buick the fob widest with is sitting vertical and the Camaro is horizontal. Surprised the can't just rotate the ignition. Or if changing key the metal blade could easily adapt a plastic snap on adapter then the button guts drop into a basic fob
For the switch blade lovers they could just make it half the width and put all the buttons inline. Maybe put the alert button on the end. Then it would look like a real knife |

Just hit the unlock button once... It only unlocks the driver door...

At least I haven't put any money down yet. I called GM and they are clueless as is my dealer. I hate that GM is keeping the dealers in the dark. |

I rushed to sell my cobra for less than I wanted because I was told the car would be in last week. If I would of known it was going to be July I could of made $2000 to $3000 more. Also I would be going to the track each week , hanging at the cruises and doing fun runs I. The hills. So my summer is going to be house work and getting more crap from all my 5.0 friends who keep telling me to buy the new 5.0 because they have keys that work

Like most everyone here I am not inclined to give up my key for this recall. But I tried to see if I could turn off the car with my knee and I was surprised how easy it was to do. I jammed my knee up in front of the key and off went the car.

I agree with the push to start - should have been that way from the start.
It looks by your photo @tomlink that it could happen while in cruise control on the highway... |

I have never used the key since buying it in 2010.
