"GM says the switches can unexpectedly move out of the "run" position if the cars are jarred, such as by going over railroad tracks or a pothole. That can shut off the engines and disable power steering."

The service guy brings my car around and calls your name in the waiting area. Once he gives me my paperwork, he explains what was done including the recalls too. So, you guys are gonna take your car into the dealership and come out with a new key mechanism unbeknowst to you. That'll be a swift kick in the !!
I get free oil changes for the life of the car at my dealership, so I want to be able to continue doing that. It's a relatively small dealership owned by one local family, and I grew up with and went to school with my salesman, who is also a friend. I also know the dealership owner, so I'm hoping that I can avoid the scenario you described, if it should come to that.

My knee is no where near the key and like many of you I also don't want the recall if they split it.

Now that I am aware of it tho, I will make sure to be extra careful

You're going to abandon a car because of a key? Really? Hell I don't like it, but I'm not prepared to cut off my nose to spite my face just yet.

I usually look in it first if I have any questions, if I can't find it there then I come here and search or ask....but most of the time the owners manual answers my question instead of having to sift through a lot of guesses and other BS people tend to post on here to find the right answer.
Mostly the my link and Bluetooth which my 10 didn't have. I can't think of anything else I'd go to the manual for....

You do realize that it has only been 5 working days since the recall was announced, I'm sure that GM can't put together a recall procedure for 500K cars in that short amount of time...

I was at my dealer for routine service today, and service department said they have received no instructions or recall program info from GM. Sales department thinks it will be at least a couple of weeks before they would have info as to when the stop sale would be cancelled. I am having the dealer hold a 2LT RS for me....salesman will call me when they can sell me the car. I can tell you the sales staff ain't to happy with the stop sale. Hopefully the dealer will carry over the promotion they now have on their Camaro's and GM will keep the $1500 Consumer cash rebate going.

The lack of logic here lies in the fact that 10's of thousands of 2014 Camaros are already driving around with these supposed key fobs that are so dangerous that GM halts the sale of a few hundred cars. Just release them for sale and add them to the recall list. Why is that so complicated for Mary Barra and the politicians she seeks to appease. Otherwise why isn't there a public emergency bulletin throughout the press warning all owners to immediately cease usage of their Camaros? I'll tell you why. Because logic and sanity are becoming a thing of the past.

Well my memory ain't so good any more so I have to refer to it often. I also do when someone says something I know isn't correct on here and I will copy it right from the manual and post it, some people won't take my word on some things LOL....

My dealer in Montreal said I would be compensated for the trouble. Sales manager did not specify how...

It's not about the recall it's about the halt sale. This is stupid. The tiny percentage of incidents is not worth a halt sale. They are keeping the dealers in the dark. If it's going to be "about 6 weeks" then they should say so.

Keeping the distribution network in the dark is just dumb. Have a plan so people know. If I know my car will be release in X weeks I might just hold out. If I don't know then # 2 car here I come and I can change my mind in 2 years.

If I knew at this time that I would have to wait a month or more to take delivery of the new SS I'm trying to buy ,I would opt to hold off and order a new 2015 model. Like many here, I'd like some more informed and concise answers as to this stop sale.
