From what I can find it can handle around 345 lb. ft. of torque. Of course, you should be able to run more power to it, thats just the maximum amount they can guarantee 100%. Like the transmission in the Cobalt SS/TC is only rated to like 261 lb. ft., (1 more than stock lol) but people have been running 360wtq+ with no problem so far.

Alright Xanthos, I've been reading alot of your great ideas as I have been looking to upgrade my V6 Camaro.

Currently I have already installed the full catback exhaust system from Borla, I have the Airaid CAI on backorder from Summit Racing, and today I just ordered the Commodore Headers from Best Mufflers. So i guess without you knowing it i've been your test dummy. Eventually I guess you mentioned they'll crack the computer and that will allow me to tune it, once I get all that done I will post the full gains of all that aftermarket mods so that everyone can have some real numbers to work with instead of just guessing. I don't know if these mods will make me reach the 350 mark but it'll sure be enough to beat any stupid ass mustang i see on the road.

If you have any other recommendations as to what else I should do for some extra hp let me know as long as it's relatively simple and cheap. I don't want to add too much just because by the time i turn 25 or when the engine goes i'll be swapping it for a V8 which will make all my mods obsolete correct? Anyhoo let me know what you think, and again thank you for all your helpful links without them i'd still be stuck at stock.

Interesting that you bring this thread back up. It does not appear that the Camaro is getting the same gains as the CTS with the same engine. The Corsa cat-back gave the CTS about 18 RWHP, but the Camaro version only gave 6! I don't think anyone has seen another 13 RWHP from ANY cai on the Camaro, either. So what gives? Why did the CTS get big gains and the Camaro not so much?

I was going to say the Camaro maybe weighed more but it looks like the LT M6 Camaro weights 120 lbs less.

Who knows..

The stock intake/exhaust on the CTS is more restrictive?

The Camaro has the same engine, but not the same exhaust. The designers probably made power more of a priority with the Camaro's exhaust than they did with the CTS.

That is the sort of thing that the Camaro is about, after all.

Nail on head! The Cadillac is about NVH, Noise, Vibration, Harshness. Quieter, more restrictive.

If that is the case, shouldn't the Caddy have a lower horsepower rating?

Actually, that is a valid point. They measure it at the crank with the stock exhaust system installed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepo...net_horsepower
Quote:
SAE Net hp is measured at the engine's crankshaft, and so does not account for transmission losses. However, the SAE net hp testing protocol calls for standard production-type belt-driven accessories, air cleaner, emission controls, exhaust system, and other power-consuming accessories.
So, could the Camaro have a different tune, maybe?
