I am sure you can make an appointment and drop it off the day before and pick up a loaner car. It was never a problem back when I was working. My dealer's service department is now open on Saturday too.

At 6'-4", 260 lbs, that would be physically impossible for me to do by accident or on purpose in my Camaro. I haven't had my Camaro since the recall was announced, but we were trying it on a friends.
Much easier for me to do on a 2014 Silverado though. Didn't take much effort at all. Did it in one try. Hopefully we dont get a key like the Silverado.

Too much stuff hanging on your ignition or smacking it with your knee is going to be possible in any vehicle... I don't see how that's the manufacturers responsibility, used to be common sense. If these issues are now a "defect" expect every vehicle ever built to be recalled eventually.

I got in my car and tried to knock the key to the run position intentionally with my knee. I am 5'11 and had no success. I was talking to my service advisor and he said the steering colomn needs to be at the lower setting and the seat needs to be in the more forward position to have a better chance of knocking the key. So unless you are a bit shorter or like to drive with your knees around your ears you should be pretty safe to use the switchblade style key. My right leg is never bent while I drive anyway. It's mostly straight from trying to push the accelerator through the fire wall! Lol

We're pretty PO'ed about the recall issue. We bought a Crystal Red RS last Saturday and were told there was a recall, but it was only a key issue and not a big deal. We were supposed to pick it up this Monday and got a call that morning and were told they can't release it and don't know when GM will let them. This car replaces a Mazda which was totaled by the insurance company and our rental car has to be returned this Monday and we'll be without a vehicle.

When will manufacturers realize to just install push to start buttons in all vehicles?
Problem solved.
