Shifting problems

Hello. I am new to the forum and I have a 1996 V6 camaro with an automatic tranny. I've been noticing that it takes my car about 2.5-3,000 rpms to shift between sitting still and first. All other gears take 2,500 to shift up. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Any help would be much appreciated

Seems normal for any auto tranny.. no jerking or lag between 1st and 2nd as if it shifted to neutral before climbing a gear? Check your airbox.

After driving in traffic for about 25 minutes, there is some jerking between 1st and 2nd. Also if I drive over 50mph then slow down to 30 or so, there's a big jerk between 1st and 2nd.

As for the throttle question, don't wanna sound like a ditz, but I'm not sure how much I'm giving.

He's talking about RPMs. And to me it's sounding exactly to a tee like my vaccuum line issue on my truck. It's causing the engine to surge and the transmission as acting like a brake.

Not good. Go ask a mechanic to look into the airbox to make sure you aren't feeding too much air into the engine.

My husband just replaced the EGR valve about 2 months ago and seemed to be doing fine. The dealership said my O2 sensor was bad but when i took it to the auto parts store and had them check my car's computer, no issues showed up.

Guess I'll just go back to the dealership and have them take a second look. Thanks for all your help

Good luck! Those V6 engines are bulletproof, so I wouldn't worry too much.
