Yep, GM has gone "zero tolerance" on any possible issues.

If I ever get so spastic that my knee shuts my Camaro off, more than likely I should not be driving anyway. I will not allow them to change my key or install a barrier below the lock. It is my car and my choice. GM is starting to look like paranoid idiots in fear of their own shadow and the multitude of crooked lawyers.

Just talked to a worker from the Oshawa plant last night, says they have a couple van loads of guys with new ignitions up from Michigan trying to figure out how they are going to change them all.
He says basically, not much has been accomplished ...........yet !!

Agreed..

Back when the first GM ignition issue was report and was speaking to a mechanic at his shop. He told me while the ignition housing was cheap, what causes the shut down is hanging A TON of stuff off the keychain.

Likewise this recall is because there is a possibility of someones knee hitting the fob, which apparently takes a lot of work to pull off. I am not against lawsuits but I just wish there was a little common sense floating around out there.

The picture on the Homepage shows the new key. With the buttons still on it, I don't see how it would be very much lighter.

So you bought a camaro, its sitting in showroom, all you need to do is sign on line, in the mean time, even though you did not take delivery of it yet, its still depreciating in value, although you are not really the owner, wow what a weird scenerio. :(

that sucks for you guys, me personally "I don't need it" I don't hit the key with my knee like EVER and I like having the switch blade key. I will be taking my car in for work on the HUD and I'll make sure the service department knows not to fix anything without my pre approval..

Paid in full !

Well I just paid my car off in full at the dealer ! So on Tuesday the 24th if I can't take my car home either way have to take my car in on trade like we agreed on and give me loaner until this issue is resolved ! Because my plates will be transferred to the new car!

My dealer just told me that the new keys/parts have been shipped and he will get them early next week (per an online bulletin from GM). He said my car will be first in line, and I should get it Wed or Thursday at the latest. (I'm in CA, btw). I really hope he's right!
