Update from my dealership...

Tomorrow I will be picking up my 2014 2SS/RS/1LE that was ordered a long time ago and has been held for ransom at the dealership since the day I signed my contract on 6/17. Before I signed my contract and traded in my 2010 2SS/RS I told them that I absolutely do not want the switchblade keys swapped out for the recall key.

I talked to them today and have gotten the okay from their GM rep to allow me to pick up my car tomorrow with 3-4 sets of keys. The 2 original switchblade keys (fobs attached) and 1 or 2 of the recall keys with it's own fob. I will be signing a paper as well acknowledging that there is a recall on the car and that I will be choosing to not participate. But to cover their ass which is fine by me, they will be giving me the recall key as well.

This post is to inform any other new owner out there that there is a way to keep your original keys. I will post back tomorrow with proof to silence the doubters.

Then I'm back to the switchblade key vote for me.
If they left the key in, even if it's a blank one, it would look better. If they want to give me another key, I'll take it, but the original key/fob stays with me.

I went on EBay and ordered a replacement cover that includes a blank key, you can always put the guts from your fob in one of these, it was only $8.99 shipped.

For $15 more you could have gotten the complete remote. Lol. Just ordered it with free shipping for $22

So, I've been following this forum since I put down my first down payment for a new car on my 2014 RS 2LT on June 14th, I was told then that I would have the car on Monday or Tuesday (which clearly wasn't true ). I've tried to be a good sport about the whole situation by not bugging them assuming they would update me if any new information arose. But that was a week ago...so I called for an update on my car that I can barely go 10 minutes without thinking about; and was told (today) that they are awaiting shipment still and that I should know what's going ...next week.....possibly the week after... I have asked if there are any contracts that I could sign to negate liability from them and I was told that this is not possible. I am also not happy with key...but at this point I don't even care...I just want my car

Btw thanks for all the update guys, I would be in the dark without this forum.

For $17.98 you can get two cases to fix both your fobs and if your fobs are working now why spend over twice as much for something you don't need?

True... My second fob is still brand new. I actually bought the third fob when the speculation early on was they would replace the entire fob but now it looks like just the key is being replaced and fob stays the same.

I too just received a call from my salesman advising me that I can pick up my baby tomorrow, as long as I sign a wavier holding them harmless and that I can return later to have the recall completed.

So is the recal official now? Last time I checked in here (almost a week), dealers knew nothing about it.

$10 solution to fix the gap after the recall

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271224743459

It's a pair of blank keys for $10 shipped and it comes from California. I just ordered a set, so I can put them in my FOBs whenever I do the recall.

I bought mine basically just to have something to experiment with. Just to see what I can come up with as a use for the flip out part they are leaving.

That's a good idea, unfortunately not in my case, my house has a fingerprint reader lock..no key.

Strangest thing happened to me. I signed the papers on an in stock Camaro last Thursday. Dealership told me I wouldn't be able to take it home because of the recall. (they didn't even know what it was for I had to tell them) I spent this week calling Chevy and the dealership only to find out that it will take weeks to months to finally get new keys.....I call yesterday and ask if any update and they say well your car is not on the recall list so come pick it up. I picked it up today and they gave me the car with the same switchblade keys! I have no idea what happened, maybe they recalled the recall......
