Everyone has a good point in walking away from it, but if you can ensure it's providence then you might end up with a good deal. I would also walk away from it but if it turns out to be a bad deal, sell the supercharger and the car seperately and you might be able to recoupe your $.
They wouldn't happen to have the original intake would they? |

SLP has long been affiliated with GM and they were the ones doing the conversions of the 4Th gens from the factory for the SS, WS6 and Firehawks. It's is true that if you get the kit installed in an approved shop which is a GM Dealer you will keep your original warranty in tact. SLP does give a warranty of 36 months/36,000 miles on the Blower and related parts so you are safe incase something happens. My friend has his 2013 SS in now doing the swap at a GM dealer and he even confirmed with the dealer that it's true. BTW, the blower that SLP uses is better then the one GM uses especially since there is many ZL1 owners getting new supercharges because of lot's of play in the nose before it engages. There is a notice out on this so go check in the ZL1 section. The supercharger and install adds $12k to the price. Check out their website and get your information and make your decision.

If you have a an SLP blower and SLP tune (only) you can purchase an additional warranty form SLP. But as soon as the blower and tune are installed the GM factory warranty on those parts is void.. From the SLP site it states there is an "Optional 3 year /36,000 mile Limited Powertrain Warranty" 3 year / 36,000 mile SLP Limited Powertrain Warranty Optional 3 year / 36,000 mile SLP Limited Powertrain Warranty - See more at: http://www.slponline.com/blog/2013/1....qeAZbhHM.dpuf Quote:

I think if I can verify the warranty. I will be purchasing. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks again for all the honest comments. Would you drop 40 with an intact warranty?

m2c edit to add- with the warranty of course edit edit to add: I doubt they bought it for that much. Specialty cars on used lots are high markup. Not high volume. Last edited by Mark T; 06-27-2014 at 09:30 AM. |

one thing nobody has mentioned is... It's NOT a 1le !! Op said he wanted to buy a 1le. this is a SS RS with a supercharger but without all the great extras that come with the 1le. just thought I'd point that out. we seem to be talking apples and oranges here....

It is a 1le, all the components are there.
The guy who wrote the ad didn't do a very good job fact checking his statements tho. |

Used muscle/sports cars are tricky business. I bought mine new because I can't trust what the person before me did to it. I know exactly what my car has been through and I plan on keeping it until goes from my DD to a dedicated road track car. The warranty concerns are valid and significantly decrease the value of the car if it is void. If I planned on supercharging anyway and don't care about sloppy seconds I'd consider it for around 32-35k. Modifications don't add much value and if you ever trade it in you would be better served to part everything out and trade it in stock form. Like what was said above, some people got their new 1LE's for that around that price or even lower.
Plus it's more fun to build when you choose everything.

I think it's a beautiful car, and if it makes you happy, buy it! Yes, you risk the warranty issues, but if your looking to upgrade anyway, then why not? Everyone on here that is saying no to it that has mods and a tune to there's has voided their warranty too! You live once man, if you get it for 40k, go for it. I think you,ll be happy with it. I do think you should test drive it and take it to a reliable shop first to have it all checked out, and if it does, drive that baby home! Have fun and good luck!
