Same thing could have been said if they gave the Camaro the option of the proximity start. Or link the start to the owners brainwaves. Or make the Camaro so it was always running and you had to solve math problems to get in. Same thing would have happened if they never made the Camaro.

Love it!!

Quick Update, I got my Car yesterday (regardless of the dealer telling me it would be two weeks). my Key and fob are separated (like the images already online). Looks like Ford's bogus acquisition has ended (lol jk). Anyway all is good in the world. Time to take the morning cruise. :-)

GM/Fbodfather,
Please tell us that you are reading this & are working on a better solution. A simple please send us a private message with your VIN number to address concerns doesn't cut it.
I'm sure that the majority of us feel that we deserve better from a car that many of us have spent over $40K for. Many of us are even willing to pay for a better fix.

I've bought two GM cars in the past 4 years. There will NOT be a third with this "cost effective" solution. With that being said, Do you think this is the right way to treat your customers?

This has probably already been discussed...But what about a key like this? Obviously a nicer looking one, but the same general idea.

I was able to knock the key to the off position with my knee in both my sons Jeep and my daughters Suzuki.

This is freaking ridiculous.

EDIT: The Jeep and Suzuki keys of course.

No way. That is way too nice. It would cost GM and they are going the absolute cheapest crappiest route possible.

I love that there are people that are fine with this half ass fix. If they are willing to cheap out with something involving a recall, just imagine what else will be half assed in the future.

it was 2 fobs and 2 keys. They took the key out pretty much out of the switchblade. Just like the pics people posted on the forums.

Its just keys to me though.. i'm just glad i have my car!

When you come right down to it, GM is only obligated to remedy the functional safety issue here. It is reasonable to expect that such a fix will be found at least marginally acceptable by a majority of owners, who really just want their car to be available to drive. Of course that means that the fussiest few on an enthusiast message board probably won't agree with the solution. There's probably a few owners who thought that the original key arrangement wasn't all that great either.

I just tried knocking the key fob with my knee (engine running and in park) and it scares me how easy it shuts off. My knee is usually 5cm from the fob when I drive my 2011 Camaro SS...WoW!!
