I cant physically hit the fob with my knee at all. The wheel hits my leg way before I get close. But I drive with wheel all the way back and down. So for me its a non issue unless they have a defective key cylinder. Then they should replace cylinder if that was the problem.

I bought a 2014 2SS/RS on the 20th of June and they let me take it home because I bought two cars at once and I told them if I couldnt take the Camaro I would void the deal. They called today and told me I need to get in to get the recall done and I said no and hung up the phone lol. Not sure if Ill have to give in or not but I have the car and the two switchblade key fobs.

Wonder what they would say if you went in for the recall but had already lost a key?

Nothing, you would just get one back is all.
Anyway after talking to the service rep today they are not going to be pushing anyone that does not want it done to do it, they will just ask you to sign the form saying that you declined it at this time but can come back in the future to have it done if you want. He said just wait till you get the recall notice, then bring it in and they will take care of it. Not doing the recall probably will save them a lot of hassle too.

I'll get mine done when GM is prepared to supply me with a complete replacement fob with no empty slot and a button to nowhere.

So basically what I see here is: They take your old key from your fob and rekey it to a seperate new key and give you your old fob back with the new key.

This might have already been asked, but I read several times that they are going to ask you to sign something along the lines of you declined to have the switch blade key replaced.

Now maybe that's just me, but I do not sign random documents. Bar any cash incentives , there is no way in hell I will sign any such thing.

Nor do I see anyway GM can force me to.

Can anyone that singed this waiver recollect what it stated or even better, post it on here?

I not only voted no, but hell no! How is this even a recall? I don't get it is there something wrong with the ignition mechanism or the shape of the key? From what I read it was the design of the switch blade key. The night I heard about this on the news I went to the garage, got into my car, slid the seat all the way forward moved my knees up and down (mind you I am 5'11'') and my knee came nowhere close to the key. Oh and who even drives in that uncomfortable position? It's not like your knee will bump the key so it turns the engine off. The angle of your knee and the key would basically move the key to start the car up!

Key recall

I had been told another problem, was the key could be knocked to accessory instead of off. This disables the airbag, the way I understand it. Not a good happening.
