Exactly. There is a massive performance gap in the Corvette line up that the Z06 used to fill. By pushing the Z06 into what the ZR1 used to be, they would have to develop a new car to replace it. If GM doesn't develop another Corvette to fill that role, I highly doubt they would build an engine just for the Z/28 to use.

Agreed though using that NA motor would make more sense in a Camaro now that the Z06 is supercharged. If we see a Grand Sport Vette that could give us some hope. You can already get dry sump oiling on a Stingray so something like a different motor would have to be used to make a Grand Sport special. That Corvette could possibly be built without the ultra expensive CC brakes and if that formula is used for the Camaro we could have ourselves a somewhat affordable Z28. The slash would be sacrificed in the name of accessability and would make the current Z/28 more special.

I don't think GM needs to make the Z/28 more accessible. With the return of the 1LE package, there really is no reason. Either kill off the Z/28 or build it right.

I would say GM should build a Grand Sport and Z/28 very similarly. They should have a highly upgraded 6.2L LTx, manual trans only and maybe use the DSSVs again but that would push the GS too far into the Z06 territory in order to achieve what the Z06 should have been.

Pass some my way. My rifles are looking pretty sad right now. They haven't left the safe in 3 years. :(

What is Chevy Thinking?

Dodge claims 707-hp Challenger SRT Hellcat is the "most powerful muscle car ever"

http://www.gizmag.com/707-hp-dodge-c...hellcat/32791/

Not a lot of tire in the rear for 707HP.

Can't help but think this will have to be launch managed. I'm pretty sure based on driving enough Corvettes that you sure aren't going to be going WOT coming out of a corner and keep the back end under control.

May simply be an exercise in developing an engine with a future car in mind.

It is going to be impressive for sure.

True. It seems the majority of Dodge guys are about 1/4 mile. If so this car with DR should be amazing. I'm sure this engine will end up in the Viper to compete with the Z06.
