engine cover?

I bought my 2012 RS a few weeks ago and have already started modding it a little. I painted the rear valance to match the body color, deleted the grille emblem, painted the trunk emblem, and just finished installing my NOS purge kit and bottle (too hot outside to finish installing the solenoids right now)

So while I was under the hood today I noticed that my factory engine cover was only the front part and it was only held in place by the oil cap. I thought it looked weird and checked it against my wife's 2011 camaro - sure enough - missing half the engine cover. So I removed the half I had.

My question is - are there any custom engine covers out there - or just painted/decal covered stock ones? I'm thinking about making one and using what look like factory mounting points. Just curious if I'm reinventing the wheel or if there are companies that already make custom engine covers.

Just polish or paint your manifold & leave it off!

There is a guy in the for sale section that makes vented V-6 engine covers that look really good.

This is mine its an LFX but the same can be done. I choose the Deceptacon theme because of the 125 shot Zex. I have never seen anyone else with one like it. I drew it in autocad and cut it out on our plasma table at work. Im going to move on to other parts soon.Name: 20140614_125008.jpg

Thanks I just started showing it off. I am sure it wont be long before it gets copied. The autobot logo looks better as an engine cover because of the way it is shaped. But I have to a deceptacon. i am making trunk parts to showcase the nitrous bottles and the theme in the trunk will be the cube or spark. The sourcd of my deceptacon power. Believe it or not im 45 years old and having fun with this.

My intake doesn't look like the first pic. It has tons of ribbing on it and would take me about 4 days to grind it smooth enough to paint.

Whats the difference between the LLT and LFX? How do i know which I have? Sorry - new to camaros and gm.

Good idea- your IM is made of composite material (like plastic) and I don't believe polishing is an option. LLT's were in the 2010-11 V6's, LFX after that.

I'm not sure what could have happened to the back half of your cover- not many intake options I'm aware of for the LFX. But have fun making the car your own!

I made my own engine cover - need a new hole saw to get the oil cap to fit - but it doesnt look too shabby.

I also made my own strut tower brace - got it all bolted up and the bracing needs some more support so its more rigid - back to the drawing board on that one oh well - nothing ventured nothing gained, right?

That is nice work and looks cool! You may want to start selling them? Try doing the custom hood hinges (billet aluminum styled).
