Check the status of forces agreement for Germany. I was stationed in Greece and it was cost prohibitive to sell a car to a local.

My son is going to Germany this September and he wants to leave his FR-S with us while he's there. I don't mind storing it for him, but I think he's making a big mistake not taking it with him. That car would be a delight to drive in Germany and even though it's going to be stored in a garage, its still a crap shoot to store a car that long.

Thats exactly what I was concerned about. When I was stationed in Italy, we could not sell vehicles to the citizens of our host nation.

I would see what it's worth; if the value of the car can wipe out the remainder of your loan than I can't imagine why you wouldn't sell it and buy again when you have the opportunity. If you have to take a loss then you'll be facing the hard decision.
Not to mention hoses and seals going bad sitting that long.

Good luck selling it. Camaro market sucks at least in illinois. I'm asking a tad over 29 for my car and having had a bite on it in months.

Put it up for best offer here on Camaro5 just to see what your options are.
Put an ad on craigslist too. If you're not going to take a huge hit...
How much is the shipping across to Germany?

I was offered $26k off a Craislist ad for my 2010 2SS with 44k miles. I decided I wasn't ready to let it go yet, but I would list it for sale and see what happens. Take it to CarMax, but be willing to leave with your butt hurt after the lowball offer they give you. Best bet is consignment with a local dealer.

We are talking a talking about a 2012 1ss. Not some rare collector car. Payments, insurance, storage fees if applicable x 5 years will come out to more than what you owe now. In 5 years estimate what the cars is worth. I cant see paying on a car that is sitting. If this was car that you really were gong to keep, even after you get out then maybe but be honest, your most likely going to come home and trade up for the next best ting. Your car will be around 8 years old buy then.

If payments aren't crazy, maybe you can find someone to take over payments.

Thank you for your service!
