Fast in a straight line, big brakes (front's in the Zl1 are 14.6 vs these 15.4) means on a larger road course with some decent straights it will be hard to beat no matter how well it turns. Will be a different story on the tighter and smaller tracks, I'm sure. Can't wait to see some road course times, or even better, meet up with one on a track.

You still have to slow the Hellcat down from it theoretical higher speed on that "decent straight" and it's not light. I believe it will still have problems on a road course over a log period of time. They have tried to allow more air into the wheel well with the vent design. It should be interesting to say the least. Let the reviews begin!

"707 Horsepower, End Of Discussion"

I think that sums it up nicely and it was said by SRT on the website!

Not meant to be a compliment, it means to me that all they did was add HP to an old and outdated platform that desperately needs a diet. Ford sort of went this direction with the newest Shelby and so far all I have seen them run is slow 1/4 mile passes sideways and them leave the track upset.

There is a such thing as too much of one thing and not enough of everything else. Seems like SRT thinks this is good advertising...

You mean just like the GM service tech's at the Chevy dealer that took out a lower HP ZL1 (compared to the Hellcat) and totaled it in seconds into a telephone pole no less.

Looks like the NHRA has certified the new SRT Hellcat.

11.2 at 125mph on stock tires
10.8 at 126mph on DOT Drag radials

Wouldn't take much for GM to make the ZL1 beat it. Up the boost, CAI, and ship it with drag radials and it would be close.

That is crazy fast...I'd like to know how with 4400 lbs.

Even with $10K in mods, it's likely to win against most ZL1's.

Mod the Challenger only slightly and it's over.

Dodge has done something right, at least in a straight line.

I'd like to know how much boost and what fuel it requires to keep it out of detonation.

Big Dave (CAMARO5 member) ran 11.596 with just a cold air intake. It should be easy for GM to make a car to beat the straight line death trap.

This is Huge problem for the Gen 6 ZL1, unless it has over 700HP it can't compete with the Hellcat and GM never puts more power into any camaro than the top Vette has which is 650HP in the Z06.

Not really, with some weight reduction and just even increasing the HP to 650 should put it very close, the 5th Gen could obviously compete without to much change, you just have to look at the ZL1s quarter times, it is the perfect platform to go fast and straight. Hopefully the 6th Gen will come out at a lower weight which in itself would be a huge gain.

Its crazy to me that the cars on the fast lists with a lot less HP running around the same 1/4 times. Forty thousand dollar cars with 6 to 8 thousand dollars in mods. How is this?
