Can't argue with that logic. I also want to get into autocross which manuals are better suited for while auto's are better suited for drag racing.

Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

Can you say I got bored? I may do the gauge cluster tomorrow. Smoking the tail lights after my trip. Just a little something to clear my clutch sickness mind.

Nothing wrong with it when the person learning also owns a ZL1. Lol

Not just anybody gets behind the wheel of my car. One thing I've learned over the last month is that most of the people in this little group deeply cares about their cars. I do mine. When I know a particular person is going to respect my car just like I would there's, whats wrong with giving someone an experience they've never had before? It's just first gear around a pretty much empty parking lot.

Hey guys! Dang there were a lot of posts since Friday! I feel like I'm missing out....Got a nice farmer's tan out at drill this weekend, and I think I sweated about 2 gallons out because it was so dang hot!

Here's my attempt to reply to things:

1st off, we definitely need to do the Poker Run, ironically, that is my only Saturday off work this month, so the date works out perfectly! I am going to plan on doing autocross, no more drag racing for me until I get upgraded axles....and that won't be until next year.

2nd, as for the auto vs manual thing...A manual is fun, but honestly, I would almost rather have an auto right now....for autocross, I would rather have my manual, but drag racing is better in an auto.

And finally, as for letting someone learn on a ZL1, I don't see a problem with it if they're a respectful person....I let my fiance putt around an empty parking lot in my car in an attempt to learn....My car has a little more in it than a bone stock/no tune ZL1 and a twin disc clutch that makes driving it a challenge....I know she's not going to tear anything up, especially if I don't...the way I drive it haha

I think that about catches me up on everything haha

welcome back Greg, glad you are back in one piece also

yeah I can't wait for this poker run. never done anything like this before but will be driving solo. should be on that Zello app incase someone (me) gets confused and needs help on a clue
I kinda want to try the auto cross thing. I'm no pro at it and will have to have equipment to go on the drag strip or auto cross? I'm pretty sure I'll have to be in long jeans and close toe shoes. but what about a helmet?

and Mark anytime you want to meet me in the outlet parking lot and teach me stick that'll be great haha!

Helmet is required for autocross, only required in drag if you run 13.99 or quicker.

You need to get one that is Snell 2005 approved at the minimum...a simple DOT approved helmet does not pass...the drag strip is lenient about that rule, but not sure how autocross will be...regardless, the Snell rated helmets are safer, so better to be safe than sorry.

The NASA group that runs the autocross event usually has extra helmets.

I'd go ahead and get one anyways so you always have one of your own. MIR is real lenient about the helmet for drag racing, but I've heard they aren't so much with autocross.

Oh look at everyone being talkative today. Yes I respect my car so of course I would respect mark's ZL1. I greatly appreciate him giving me the experience. I'm interested in the autocross. Where would I get a helmet from? From the looks of it anyway, I will be looking towards my next camaro or sports car as a manual and still have the Z auto. Look at Sarah trying to get that lesson in lol
