Just as the ZL1 gets embarrased by a GT500 (base model or PP/TP) at the strip?

2013 ZL1's built 7,956 (6,039 coupe, 1,917 drop tops) Not sure on sales numbers but I assume most if not all were sold, how many at a discount? I have no idea. Pretty much. All-in-all off the show room floor most know that the GT500 is undisputedly better in a straight line. But at the same time the ZL1 is more track oriented. Like I said in the Hellcat thread, currently there is a Pony car for everyone. If you like road course racing Chevy is the best option with the 1LE, ZL1 & Z/28. Straight line performance? Dodge & Ford have that covered with the Hellcat, 392 & GT500.

I reviewed what I could find on this Hellcat, and it seems like it will be a great car to explore. Would be great if they priced it reasonably to sell, and not out of its class.

Next, only a manual in GT500. Auto is better for the strip. And, when a Mustang fan can see guys with a $30,000 5.0 with about $15,000 in upgrades, reliably running mid 9's ... ... 11.5 psi on E85, open your eyes if you have no idea what I'm talking about ... ... the GT500 competes more with the Coyote than the Camaro. Also, this thread started "Horsepower Wars" and, yep, the ZL1 is behind. That said, I'm quite happy with my ZL1. The GT500 and the HellCat don't make my car any slower than it was yesterday, they are just quicker ...for now.

This is a HP thread that is true.
It is going to be funny hearing Mustang guys talk about how it's about more than straight line speed when comparing the Hellcat to the GT500.... |

Thats the thing though...the GT500 might handle better...but most of us don't give a shit.
I have a base car...I've never been to a road course...it would be too much car for me even with the PP and TP. Just because the Auto HellCat is going to be a few clicks quicker doesn't take anything away from the joy I get out of the car. If I wanted to.be faster than a stock HellCat, I'd do it. Just like many of you guys have ZL1s faster than a stock Shelby. ..

I met a guy about a month ago who has 720 reliable, daily capable hp at the wheels on his ZL1. It's quite easy to do - all he did was sign his name on a check and wait a month. This thread is approaching auto vs. manual status. And, yeah, I finally read and posted. It never leaves the top of the page! Go out and drive!

I would like GM to do it, I like warranties. The other reason is why we have these cars, because we asked for them and GM, Ford and Mopar delivered. Unless GM becomes completely track focused they will one up the competition. I would bet they took the lessons learned from the ZL1 and we have the Z/28, better brakes, better tires etc. Its like saying you don't mind if your favorite football team comes in third. This is America! Just think what kind of a Camaro we would have if guys like Scott and Al didn't push the envelope.

Part of me wishes GM would have blown the 2012 GT500 out of the water like Ford did in 2013 and Dodge did now instead of only topping it. But the other part of me likes the room left to mod and get big gains reliably. I don't think I'd enjoy staying at one power level even if it was over 700. Not saying the hellcat can't take mods, but the ZL1 leaves a lot of room to play.
