EXACTLY the same....I think GM needs to step up their response to this issue, as it seems more widespread than I originally thought.

This will be my 3rd warranty issue in the 4 months / 2000 miles that I've had the car. I sure hope this isn't a trend...

Edit: The first obvious occurrence of this was today. AM commute, no problem. Lunch, the HUD would fade then snap back - but I couldn't tell why. 1st part of PM commute, no problem. Turned the car off. Restart the car for 2nd part of PM commute, the HUD would slowly fade to the point that it could not be seen at any brightness setting on the dial BUT would snap back when I used the directional. This was repeatable, at least within the same drive. Is this consistent with what you guys have been seeing? I'll setup the GoPro tomorrow to get a video.

I did setup a service appointment and was told they needed to confirm the faulty HUD, couldn't order a new one until they physically removed the current part, wait for delivery, then install. So, 3 days to tear apart what I still consider a new car. This seems like a somewhat common problem; I don't understand why they can't determine a range of potential issues, order parts to be on-hand so they can repair in one day then return what isn't needed. Instead, the customer needs to bear the burden of inconvenience... on a $45K car.

I REALLY love this car but have to say that so far it's having the worst quality record of any vehicle I've owned (and there have been more than a few)... which is starting to take away from the joy of ownership :(

They said it would take about 4 hours to replace. I dropped the car off at 8:00 a.m. And called at 1:00p.m. To see if it was finished. They said it wouldn't be done until 4:30 but they could have started on it late.

My 2013 2SS just outright failed after about a year and 6000 km. I did not have any fade out issues previously.

I took it to the dealer to replace and they totally mangled the dash and somehow chipped up and scratched the bottom of the door jam in about 10 places. The dash has considerable damage and is not aligned correctly.

It is back there now getting "fixed" I'm scared to see it when it is time to pick up.

My dream car has now turned into a nightmare!!

I may just sell if they can't get it right.

It is good to see someone from GM on this site! Thank you for the information. I will give them a call if I cannot get this worked out with the dealer.

I picked up my car today as they are ordering parts to fix some of the other issues. They did the "repair" on the damage done to the dashboard and it is horrible. The damaged areas have been PAINTED. So these areas shine like fresh paint as compared to the rest of the dashboard. Not only that, there is black over spray on some of the silver and chrome trim.

So far it seems like they are trying hard to make it right. I have called in my complaint and they are getting back to me. At this point I will except nothing less than having the damaged areas replaced.

My New HUD is still working flawlessly. I have not had any problems with it since the installation. My 1LE is awesome and I don't know what I enjoy more, looking at it, washing it or driving it.

It took some time but after a few battles I got all the damaged panels replaced with new last week.

Cheers!

Sorry if I've missed this but are the HUDs that are failing the color ones or the monochrome/bluish ones or both?

Does dash have to come out to replace HUD?

I have one that failed and it was the monochrome.
