Hi!

I've been using a single bucket with a separate sponge for the upper paint areas and one for the lower areas/wheels...no problems.

Picked up my car on Saturday and went yesterday for the cleaning essentials. Picked up Meguiar's detailing spray for dash, tire foam, wheel cleaner, car wash, exterior detailing spray to use in between washes, micro-fiber detailing cloths, towels, etc. I used the wheel cleaner yesterday and it worked great! My question is what do you recommend to clean/protect the leather seats. I have the gray interior. Thanks.

Congrats on the new car!

I use/prefer Zaino's leather products. But I'm biased!

For OTC products, look at Mothers, Meguires, Lexol,....

Someone asked in this thread about holding off on covering your new car for about 3 months. Is this needed or can you cover it sooner? Unfortunately, when I get my baby, she'll be parked in the driveway

I have a VR 2SS/RS coming in the next month. I have read the entire thread and am convinced I need to buy Zaino products to protect it. My question is since I have nothing now, what would you buy for the Victory Red.

Michael,

I've never heard of waiting to cover a new car.

Personally, I'd get a good coat of wax/polish on it first. But, if you need to cover it immediately, I see no harm.

Just make sure your car is clean. And get it waxed/polsihed asap.

Z-Kit I is a great kit to start with. Also, get the blond towels. Very important to use the proper towels.

So, I'm not a Zaino guy but I may change my mind. I've had my car a week now and I washed/waxed it last Friday. Now I'm seeing minor scratches in some of the areas. I used micro towels and McGwuires everything. I've never had a problem before with this stuff, but I've also never had a black car. Will this Zaino stuff help with the micro scratches in the clear coat?

Zaino Z-5 has a mild abrasive in addition to the polish that will help with those swirl marks.

Moose, what do you use to dry your car? I'm tired of getting swirl marks from drying. I've tried Microfiber (hated it) and waffle weave (a bit better), but I still get the marks.

I guess anyone can answer...

Zaino Z-5 will do a very good job with your swirls.

Black will show ALOT. So, besides a very good wax/polish, you want to be very choosy in what you use to wash, and dry your car. For washing, I prefer sheepskin or cehnile wash mitts. For drying and polish removal, Zaino's "Blond Towels" are the best.

I only use MF for interior detailing. For drying and polish removal, Zaino's "Blond Towels" are the best.

Sorry, but I would not use Dawn or any other soap that is formulate to remove heavy grease. Why not use Tide?! If you was every 3-4 months you don't have much left on the paint any way. Instead, use a friction based cleaner instead of a chemical based cleaner. Not only does it remove the wax bit it smoothens the paint surface (through a microscope) whereas a chemical does not. Friction based cleaners are fine, medium and heavy cut. Use the fine grain unless you have really screwed your new paint. For bugs and garbge, tree sap, etc. imbedded in your paint use the chemical based cleaners. Avoid all silicone based products, period. I'm not going to name products but for friction look for "glaze" products and they will help remove swirl marks as well. Avoid organic waxes and buy polymer-based. Trust me.

I agree with your basic statement of not using 'Dawn', or any dish washing liquid formulated to remove grease, etc.

But. Using it once, to remove any previous wax prior to using Zaino, is fine. I've done it numerous times, with no problems.

That is the only time I'd recommend using 'Dawn', etc...

NEVER wash regularly with anything other than a good quality car wash.
