Axle seals
Rear end chattering, 2600 mile SS common problem. I know this requires a rear end fluid change with friction modifier, I know how a limited slip differential works.
So I decided to let the dealer take care of it..... see above 2600 miles. What the purpose of replacing the axle seals as well? I had them show me the service bulletin it says right there to change the axle seals and put different fluid in the differential. So that's what they want to do, probably next week when the axle seals come in. Well that's kind of a big job for just a fluid change, it kind of worries me. If I don't let them do it, any future problems won't be covered under the drivetrain warranty. If I do let them do it, they make screw it up.

The axle seals are prone to leaking, maybe the newer ones are better quality.

What usually happens is when the axle is being removed the snap ring groove of the inner CV will catch the seal and pull the inner spring out. just be careful.

Ok I haven't spent enough time around these cars. Explain why you have to remove axles to change the fluid. BTW I have installed tons of front wheel drive half shafts.

FWIW, I was told the old seals are not compatible with the new diff fluid.
