Dang, not a good way to start a Tuesday!!! And I bet the tire shop will say that it is too close to the sidewall to patch it.....so you gotta buy a new tire. Well, at least that's what they told me when mine was like that. I wish you better luck than me!!!

IF I was told that.....and couldn't find someone that would do it. I would buy a DIY plug kit and go with it. GRANTED its certainly not ideal, but .......

I have had one of those for YEARS! if for no other reason than an emergency back-up when out on the road. as we ALL know....murphy will find you at the worst possible moment, and if you are not prepared....the situation becomes twice as bad.

You can get those kits with the tools and all for about $10 at Walmart.

in all honety, i think im going to plug it as opposed to patching it just because these tires are almost done as it is. going to be getting a new set probably within the next three months or so. idk if its worth it to have them pull it off just to patch it when im only gonna put a few more thousand miles on them anyway.

I try not to use the diy plug kits cos it can damage the belts. I'd take that to a place that can actually patch it from the inside and not use a plug. Best solution for performance tire; or any tire.

Gives new meaning to the term "bolt-on".

I think screws were meant to be in the rim to the tire bead when drag racing...no?

Good luck with the repair.

Is that a good or bad thing? lol, I did back in my college days.

Every time I used to run a reamer through to clean up/open up the hole enough to put a plug in, I used to feel the reamer run along and break the steel belts in there ... never felt right. So, whenever I could I would do a proper patch; atleast on performance cars.
