Something very similar happened about 2 years ago in South Carolina I beleive it was and they never caught who was doing all of the stealing of the Camaro's and they also stole like 6 or 7 at one time from a dealer in the middle of the night. I cant remember if the thread was on C5 or MC...

Does anyone remember this happening on the East Coast? And for all we know it could be the same bunch except just moved to the West Coast.

If I was really worried about it, I'd add a hidden kill switch.

Guys, they aren't driving them away....
Bingo! They make small wheel lifts that fit under 1 ton pick-ups . They're not worried about damaging the fascia .

Unfortunately that wouldn't do any good. These cars are very likely being towed. Or in the instance of the Camaros being stolen from the dealership, being jacked up onto wheel dollies and pushed away.

Which is why I said in a previous thread I'd add the club, (maybe now a kill switch) the GPS tracking, etc. In other words....

Attack from multiple fronts ;-)

And, there's still nothing to keep them from towing it off.

Most of the pros will even check for GPS tracking stuff as well. For the device to get a decent signal it's going to need an antenna of some sort, as well as power. Even then, how do you track it? Pay for some monitoring service?

It's not really that simple, I think i'll just keep good insurance which covers me if it gets stolen.

$20 for the club is a great investment. As for anti theft devices, remember that your insurance company will discount you for having protection. At a minimum, twenty dollars is worth it.

Not true. The device I'm looking at actually works very much like a cell phone, which does *not* need an external antenna. And yes, it is a monitoring service-goes through AT & T. As for checking for the GPS, good luck-I plan on hiding it so far into the body that it won't be easily (within a few minutes anyhow) found/removed. And yes, of course I'd keep good insurance that covers me, but why wouldn't I do everything I can to deter thieves, including but not limited to a club? Why wouldn't anyone? I certainly learned my lesson the hard way....

Good point. Probably a way to get you in; then they do the bait and switch.

They wanted to charge me 4x what I ended up paying at Courtesy Chevrolet for my Rally Stripes + Instillation.

They even ordered the stripes without my OK. When they arrived they called me to tell me they were in and that they'd be $700 plus installation.

Because the OP is about an hour away, I would recommend making the deal over the phone or email and then make arrangements to pick it up.
