I never really trusted those things along with the Fumoto valve with that gasket material ring for sealing nor the brass threads into the aluminum pan. Attempted to install one once and after seeing that the valve only makes up about 3 1/2 threads before contacting the questionable gasket. I pulled it back off and used the stock plug. Its threads not only are a closer match to the tapped hole but have a deeper engagement when installed. Still have it sitting here at the house. It was for my 2012 Silverado. To each his own though. Lots of people use them. Now if someone made them out of steel with the same length threaded shank and an undercut flange to accept an "o" ring or crush seal ,I'd be all over it.

Well I will install it tomorrow and see how it works. If it fits tight in there it shouldn't be a problem.

I had one, will never use one again.
I put one on when I first got the car when I did my first oil change thinking that this will be handy and help keep things clean. Putting it on I had no issues, nor did I have issues during the time it was on, no leaks, nothing. Then came the second oil change. I opened the valve to let the oil out and it worked just fine, 10 minutes later I only had less than 1 quart drained out. I went inside and did some stuff came back out 45 minutes later and wasn't even half way there (SS has an 8 quart capacity). Finally I said screw it I don't have all day and decided to take the thing off. The valve completely broke in two. They are so cheaply made they can't even stand the stress of being removed. I contacted the company wanting a refund or an exchange because I've only had the thing less than a month and they said no. That they intentional design them to break or become damaged upon removal. WTF!!!!!!!!!! I will never do business and will never recommend them to anyone. |

I have one on both of my vehicles and never experienced any issues. Draining does take longer but the convenience makes it worth it to me.

Was wondering if the slow draining would be hastened by removing the filler cap and leaving it off - unless it was done of course.........

If your oil is Hot/Warm like it is supposed to be when you change the oil, it comes out just fine. Have one on my Duramax 10 quarts!!

Too bad they don't make an oil plug that you just unscrew, let all the oil drain out, then replace...

that's a genius idea! Gonna start working on this. Maybe a solid rod with male threads machined on to it? Maybe a larger head so it can seat up against the pan ... then maybe a hex shaped head to make it easier to grip with a wrench? what ya think? Maybe it'll work?

Hell, I'm full of good ideas... my next invention will be a home telephone that's attached to the wall, with sort of a cord or cable, so that you never lose the pesky 'cordless' phone again.

how about a water resistant bath towel? You can just leave it anywhere after use and not have to dry it ... no pesky moldy smells!
