(Like the 'Lazy Cop' Pheonix described earlier.) Detectors 'Detect' the impulse wave sent from the police unit to your car. Then it Blinks like mad when it says "I'm hit! I'm hit!". By the time your brain and its neuralproccesors actaully realize the light is blinking, if you notice it the nano-second it goes off, unless the Police officer is over 1 and 7/8ths of a mile away....He knows your speed, before you know you're hit. With the ones down here in Florida, They ping it once, grab your speed, go to pull you over. If they see your nose dip like there a chain attached to your front bumper and light post. They'll look for your radar detector as well. Radar Detectors and similar devices do not detect Police Officers or Highway Patrol. They detect the waves sent by them, at your car, and law enforcement WILL recieve the information no matter what your radar detector says.
This may be true if your the only car on the road, but in heavier traffic and a greater distance... they can't lock onto a single vehicle and know what vehicle it is for sure...

But you have a right to your opinion as we all are.

I know for a fact mine has saved me from several speeding tickets. More than enough to pay for the detector.

So for those of you that think the cops are writing tickets to generate revenue for their police dept. that is wrong. I write tickets to slow people down and be safer.
In MN, tags differ by county. The average is around 125, up to 275 for a reckless driving. The agency that writes the tag gets about $5 bucks, the rest goes to the state.

If the detector works, use it iguess. Or you could just drive fast on the track. I'm not afraid to put the hammer down, and if i get caught I take my medicine. I guess i've earned it......

I bought a Passport 9500ix this spring. It seemed to work well the few times I had used it. The first time I "relied" on it, I was on my way to Effingham, Il. (rural area) at 5 in the morning. Came over a ridge and got nailed head on by a state trooper on a bike with laser. So much for that. Seems like most of the municipalities are using laser now. Once your singled out, no detector in the world is gunna help.

dont fall for the police officers line he dosent want you to know that a good radar detector will pick up the signal that was used on the guy ahead of you.
ya if hes useing a hanheld gun he can get ya fer sure but those radio waves go past the target car so your machine can know wear he is.
saved many many times.

You can verify with some of the officers who contribute here, the laser unit is like a gun scope, they put the crosshairs on ya and pull the trigger. By the time you know, it's too late. Good luck!

Here in KY, the ticket itself is cheap. It is the +100 in court costs that makes it 150-180 a ticket.

Heavy traffic does not matter to a laser gun if u are being targeted even if there is a car in front of you it will get you if there is a clear line of sight. the lazer guns i have used you look into a reticle on one end where there is a crosshair it will pinpoint that vehicle and lock on like a fighter jet has missle lock and it will show the speed under the red ring. some laser guns even have a print out of a pic of your vehicle and the speed it is traveling at. U are right though if it is radar though then it comes down to the LEO's experience and being able to testify in court to what he observed on the street. I could pick the speeding car out of a group by looking at it. i have been LEO for about 12 years though.

V1...best there is on the market. Regardless of what LEO's say...its worth the money. It has let me know of several instances where there were police in front of me (and behind me).

Unfortunately I've still gotten like 4 tickets this year alone. Two were legit, two were B.S. I only had the radar with me on one occasion but the cop didn't even use her radar. I accidently passed her unmarked vehicle when I was running late for work one day. Can't really fight em, so you just gotta pay em or go deferrred or DD if possible.

One thing I think is B.S....is the whole idea of "I'm just trying to keep you safe by slowing you down!" Yea, because my going 5 over is really putting myself and everyone around me in danger. That said, I understand that not all police officers are the same and will approach things differently.

But no matter what is said by the LEO's...tickets are revenue generators. Perhaps not all the time, but they are nonetheless. I have driven the same way for the past 5 years, and never gotten a ticket. As soon as the economy went to the crapper, all of a sudden I start getting handed tickets left and right.
