That's why I'm suspicious. Like Dodge shook hands with the NHRA.

Heck, those COPO's are in the 8's right? Never heard of GM getting them "certified" though.

Yes. But I don't think Ford needed the marketing. I mean, Ford has been on top for many years. I think it's because nobody was expecting 707 HP from Dodge. So being Dodge, and the underdog for decades, they took advantage of the marketing opportunity. It's all about bringing attention to not just the Hellcat, but the entire brand name. It's been mentioned in several articles that talk about the business angle of the Hellcat introduction.

They could have, but didn't need to.
It was the most HP and fastest quarter mile car at the time. Now, it's the HC.

The nhra does not certify street cars first of all. Second, they do nothing to cars 10.0 and slower so the nhra has nothing to certify on the Hellcat. From 8.50-9.99 all the nhra will certify is the roll cage. Faster than that I have no idea bc my car isn't that fast. Lol.

It amazes me how much wrong info surfaces. Technically the drag pass was illegal bc the car didn't have a roll bar, possibly no ds loop, etc. Once you change the tire the unaltered 2008 and newer rule is no longer applicable.

Even at 10.8 on tire, I'm not sure that would be any kind of record for a stock auto.
I think Dodge is referring to a factory production, street legal, stock, muscle car. "Muscle car" being the key word. I would assume they are talking about the big 3 muscle cars: camaro, mustang, challenger.

Someone on the CT forums mentioned the 10.85 was on Nitto NT 555R tires, which is not stock, hence why they also certified the 11.2 on stock tires. The 11.2 was on Pirelli P Zero Nero 275/40ZR20 High Performance stock tires. How could they have certified the 10.85 on non-stock tires, when the NHRA cert is "as manufactured"? I don't know.

I thought the roll bar rule was 9.99 and below? I don't know.

It would be interesting to see if the NHRA can release their own results, from them, not from what Dodge claims. How hard would that be?

So,.........the SRT team is using "smoke in mirrors" tactics?
It's all just a lie? That's false advertisement, no?

No,...not really.
False advertisement. Couldn't they get into trouble for that?

I have no idea what dodge is advertising all I'm familiar with is what the nhra "certifies".

My car is is legal to go 8.50. The only part the nhra looks at is the cage. That's all. That's the only thing certified. No cage in the helcat so the nhra will not be involved.

IDK if there was hand shakin', but no doubt SRT and it's terrible marketing department handed over a check that couldn't be refused.

No false advertising, Someone at NHRA (maybe even the secretary) lit up a christmas tree and held a stop watch. Collected a check.

I think some idiot in SRT marketing misunderstood "certified" for "verified."

After the worst re-launch ever of a car (Viper) I have zero confidence in SRT marketing.

From 11.49 to 10.0 you need a roll bar. This does not get an nhra cert.

The exception is any car unaltered built in 2008 or newer. Ie zr1 or hellcat. If it goes 11.49 or faster, down to 10.0, you don't need anything. This is in the configuration that it arrived at the dealer from the manufacturer. You change tires and all the rules come back into play.

Thanks for the clarification, Mike. I thought it was 9.99, didn't know it was for 2008 and newer only.

"Mike" lol.

9.99 is a 10 point cage

10.0-11.49 is a roll bar. 5 or 6 point.

Any car,2008 and newer, "unaltered" , car run up to 10.0 with no bar. The rest of the saftey equipment is still required.
