2. its hard to compare other cars, because its not same driver same day
3. its on the other side of the world, I will never drive it.

I hate to say I prefer something MotorTrend does, but I put more stock in Randy Probst hustling cars around Laguna Seca than a ring time.

I can't wait to see what he does with the Z/28 around laguna seca
Trust one driver? Well that one driver has strengths and weaknesses that lend itself more to different cars than others. Probst is the only one who drove a slower time in the ZL1 than the GT500. What about Car and Driver's lightning lap? The ZL1 spanked the GT500 around VIR.

Personally, I want to see the fastest lap done with a stock car (only factory options). I don't care if Osama Bin Laden is driving the car. The bottom line is that an official lap was done with witnesses attesting to the condition of the car. The Nurburgring is widely considered the most challenging track in the world and rightly so.

It is much harder to build a track car than a dragster. Me and a few friends could stuff a big engine and Nitrous in a Chevy Chevette and run in the 9's.
Could we make a car that goes around the Nurburgring faster than a Lamborghini Gallardo? No fcking way.

All three of these cars are amazing, although the Hellcat still has to prove itself more before putting it in the same class as the other two. I'm sure it will earn that distinction though. My reservations about the Dodge are not performance related, but quality related.

For the first time ever, the Camaro is every bit of a sports car as an M3, 911, Boxster, and etc.. It actually handles like a sportscar and has the same suspension as some Ferraris. It's no longer a one trick pony, but something that actually has Europeans amazed. Yes, the car needs a big time diet, but it is amazing what a 4100 lb. car can do. Personally, I like the heft. I'm sure some of the weight went into strength and safety, which translates into top marks in crash tests.

As an owner of the last two iterations of the M3 I can unequivocally say that the ZL1 is a better all around car than the M3 ever was. Had you told me anytime in the last 20 years that I would have said that, I'd ask you to stop smoking crack. I truly believe that the ZL1 is the best all around car in the world, assuming price is taken into the equation. I was so lucky to "fall" into buying this car. Otherwise I may have continued to throw my money away on much more expensive cars.

A stock C6 Z06 will still drag a hellcat by it's furry little collar. So in the end... Chevy still > Dodge.

As I have said before. A NHRA prepared track is one thing but most owners are not going be lucky enopugh to run the car on a NHRA prepared track. I am betting the average times for this car on the normal 1/4 mile track owners run at will be in the mid 11's.

Not a problem. Those were the drag radials that they used to get into the 10's at 126 MPH.
They did also use the stock tires as well and did pretty good. Those times were 11.2 at 125 MPH. (I'm not sure if those were the all season tires or the optional super high performance tires.)

Fanboy? My ZL1 is the first Chevrolet I have owned. I have owned a Acura Legend Coupe BMW 735, 2 Volvos and my CJ7. I recognize quality and performance when I see it. You notice no Ford or Chrysler products.

Well if you want to get technical AMC is a fake jeep too to use your words. They only owned the Jeep name solely til 1979 when Renault got in on it. Then in 87 chrysler saved jeep from extinction. Which means chrysler has owned them for 27 years to AMC's 17. It would have probably been even less without Renault even though they were having trouble too. An really, the original jeep was willys with ford building a ton of them along with several over companies. Footnote. The Jeep grill we all love and know was a Ford design. Without chrysler jeeps would only be talked about when talking about WWII and looked at in museums. AMC tried to ride the coat tails of the military willys designed jeep success and in the end almost lost us and iconic American name forever. So I would be thanking Chrysler if I were you.

Sorry to thread jack. It's not like the original topic will ever do anything other than go back and fourth anyhow.

It is a CJ7, most Jeep enthusiasts consider it the last real Jeep. It wasn't a Chrysler, that is the point. I bought it new in 1985 and still drive it, it's not in a museum.

And my point is that chryslers jeeps are more jeeps than AMC. Do you know that the YJs were an AMC desgin? I'm in a Jeep club and I have never heard anyone say that the chrysler owned jeeps were fake. That's a new one. Hell out of the 500, I would say probably 80% are chrysler built and most of the others are willys. Don't get me wrong. I liked the CJ7 back in the day. That was the Jeep that got me into jeeps. But they were just a step to a much better product.
