Production numbers are not in on the new challenger. As I have said all along last version GM won. New one if dodge holds true to cost and with new look it should be different. However, if the 1200 limit is true on hellcat and they start selling above MSRP, I suspect that would follow though on both hellcat and RT if they do, Then GM and Ford will wipe the slate clean with them. Cost was an issue back in 2010. I know for me would have owned a challenger over the camaro had it been at MSRP but dodge thought there car was everything and every dealer was over MSRP so I bought a camaro at MSRP. We will see as the new one comes out if history repeats itself. From my latest conversation with the dealer today it seems History is to repeat itself once again.

Based on what this thread was originally about and to get back on subject... until the 6th gen specs are released from GM. The camaro is in third place and beat by the challenger.

Every facet..lets see between camaro and challenger. I am leaving ford out based on how fast it initially sold out it may dominate all in the end.

1/4 mile time.. challenger wins on stock vs stock. 6th gen can even argue on since no one knows anything about it yet.
Usable trunk space...challenger wins the camaros trunk is a joke for almost anything.
interior....... challenger wins
fitting 5 ...... challenger wins. even at 4 they are more comfortable then the camaro
horsepower... challenger wins both hellcat and shaker version under 40K with 480+HP
Looks ..... challenger wins. I now get more compliments on the challenger then I do camaro
Cost........ Challenger wins. in base R/T with scat pack option under 40K . Hellcat with all options under 65K.
I can tell you are stretching when you are talking which is better and you have to resort to interior, trunk space and seating 5, is the hell kitty a minivan or a muscle car? GM put the money into performance not whether you can fit a stroller in the trunk or not.

your the one that said every other facet so I elaborated. If all these cars were truly based on performance only then why would any have a v6. as for me stretching it give me a break. your reasoning and logic through out this discussion has been very one sided and I am not the only one to point this out to you.

They are limiting hellcat production to only 1200???? If so that's gonna prove to be a huge mistake on Dodge's part.

I would imagine dealers are going to try and rape people in the beginning by charging "market value". But eventually that's gonna wear off and you'll start to see them sell at MSRP.

By the way, I've seen and sat in the new interior of the challenger and our cars don't come near. Sad to say but it's the truth.

The ZL1 does not come In a 6, of course it is one sided, you are on a ZL1 thread of a Camaro forum. The kitty kat is still a one trick pony. When you talk performance, it is the track and the strip. We have asked many times where is its track performance or non-performance? I feel for you, it would suck to buy a car that only does one thing good!

Why do you care so much? Do you even have skin in the game? You probably can't afford any one of the three. You probably drive a Dodge Caravan.

that is funny. Seems I struck a nerve. so it must be that I am right ...

seems your also just jealous because my dodge caravan SS would waste your ZL1 and when I get the hellcat it will too.

yep. dealership today told me not sure if they are going to get one but I suspect the 1200 is initial cars. They started to him and haw about an possible auction, if the get one, then I laughed and told them good luck. I wont pay over MSRP for any new car. Not sure if they were fishing or what but give it 6 months with the new mustang out, 6th gen around the corner Hellcat will be found and more then likely under MSRP. I think the real movers in the dodge lineup will be the RT shakers with scat pack option 40K car with 480 HP not bad.

I just got done reading this WHOLE THREAD....

All I can say is.... REALLY? Who cares about the Challenger or the Mustang.... I know I don't.... If I wanted one.... I would have bought one and I would be posting on the THOSE FORUMS about the said car(s) I own a ZL1 Camaro.... A well rounded car that out performs the fore mentioned cars HANDS DOWN around a TRACK that has turns.

I bought the car for just that, a driving pleasure when it comes to a turn. Heck.... I have a Mid 10 second street legal Chevy II that sits in the garage when I want to go FAST down the 1/4 I can say this though.... That in my times over the hill to Tahoe in my ZL1, I have had them Challengers and Mustangs ( Not knowing what kind they are due to all the different stickers that are stuck on them) Come up on me and want to race up the hill

I engage them and leave them rapidly fading in my rear view mirror.... I could care less about trunk space (Chevy II's have big trunks just incase you didn't know) I could care less that the Challenger FINALLY has a good interior.... Heck it's about time! They were junk back in the day and that goes for the 'Cuda too. Sorry, I'm just calling it as I've always known it to be.

From what I've read from the LURKERS here that are posting.... Is just this.... Your FACTS are based on what you have read. Until I see them Challengers and Mustangs with all of them stickers stuck on them break into the top 100 at "THE BERG" Your just wasting my time. I know you will get on here and bash me on what I have posted.... That's just because that's the type of person(s) that you are..... Without owning a ZL1 Camaro and driving one your posts mean nothing to me.... Sorry!

I'm not looking to get in a battle here on a forum (I have better things to do... And I hope you do too?) ..... Unless you can back up your claims FIRST HAND behind a steering wheel. I'm back to the meaningless post(s) made by you. As far as HP goes.... I'm happy for the Challenger too have more then the ZL1 Camaro..... That's their only claim to fame.... So far.... Oh .... I almost forgot .... More trunk space and a better interior? But it HANDLES like a '67 Chevy II!

Well Said (Mostly)

This whole thread (and similar ones) is pretty amusing and extremely common. Every time a new car comes out that upsets the balance of the force, the hating begins. For now, the SRT Hellcat is the big dog on the block - in a year or two, someone else will likely surpass it without mods. Now everyone can diss the Hellcat for (fill in the blank) and tell us how their (fill in the blank) is still superior because of (whatever). Then discussion of mods enters and how easy it will be to surpass the Hellcat.

Folks, there will always be someone faster out there - trying to keep up with the Jones's gets expensive. We all buy what we buy because we like it. I've accepted my car isn't the fastest, but it's faster than many. I'm not hung up on speed and power, my thing is I like my car! Like yours! Be grateful we live in this era that still has muscle cars! I've had my 2009 RT since 2009 and I still get near daily complements from strangers in parking lots, the gas station or the drive through. I've modded my car since returning from Afghanistan last year (for performance, not bling) so it's a little faster than the average RT. I'm not a street racer but I am a car enthusiast.

I appreciate all muscle cars and enjoy friendly rivalry but some people take it too far. Regardless, I hope things continue to get even more interesting with SRT, Chevy and Ford. SRT really surprised me with the Hellcat - I was guessing about 625 - 650 hp, but 707! Neat!

Carry on. Love the website!
