Doesn't the owners manual say that an oil change is required at least once a year regardless of miles? My car has 6000 miles. My Chevy dealer changed my oil 2 times already, once at a 1000 and the second one at 4000 miles. They didn't charge me nor did they ask about my oil life percentage. I know that all dealers have different policies regarding oil changes. And your dealer doesn't sound like they care about existing customers. Get a hold of gm customer care and they'll fix this for you.

didn't even bother to take mine to the dealer for their " 'free' two years scheduled maintenance" - went straight to my mechanic at almost 1000 miles for Mobil 1.

the pain and suffering the dealer would have cost me was worth the $80 i paid the shop.

I changed my oil at 200 miles, 1100 miles, then once a year. I changed the rear-end fluid at 3K miles and it looked like it have 50K on it. Lots of shaving in the rear-end of these things. I may do that again this winter.

Synthetic oil is different than conventional...the percentage reads the viscosity of the oil. you can change it yourself but if you have free oil changes then just wait until 25%

my toy car only gets oil change once year before the winter when it sits for 2-4 months depending on mother nature. only does around 2k-3k miles year average so I dont worry about anything else will trade in with 10-15k on it for next toy.

We got free oil changes for life on our new Sonics. I will still be changing the oil myself. Always have, always will. I have trust issues when it comes to having my vehicles serviced. If I can't perform the work I find someone I know and can trust to do the work. Been burned too many times in the past.

Go to a different dealer. I got my first free oil change at three months and 3,000 miles. No questions asked about mileage and oil life percentage. Different dealers have different rules. I wouldn't accept what they are telling you.

We got a 10 free oil change deal with our car. I got the first one at 3500, and two at about 5000 each since then. We are 5000 miles from the next changer (18500). They have honored all the free changes. I do not know where the oil life percentage was at.

I'm pretty sure the owners manual only notes Dexos1 which can be a synthetic blend. It says once per year no matter what though....

I think percentage is a Chevy thing, I could be wrong though.

Which brings up the question ,how to reset the oil life monitor after an oil change ? Not being sarcastic ,just don't know and too lazy to read the owners book . Is it just miles or can the car tell when the oil is shot ? Or is it the old gas pedal ignition on to reset game because of miles ?

Over 6k miles in the last 7 months and sitting at 45%. I was thinking there was something wrong with the % electronics but after reading this I guess not.
