When driving with the plate up, does the wind rattle the plate frame making it hit the bumper constantly & scratching it?

Here's how I installed my plate. No drilling needed on car or bracket.

Start by turning the bracket upside down and feed a series of four 8" zip ties through the top pair of mounting holes. You can figure the rest by the series of pictures.

The final step is one more strap to link the first two you fed through the mount and a small strip of plastic tubing to cushion the bracket against the bottom fascia or anywhere the bracket may rub.

+1

I did the same to mine this morning - thanks for the cool tip! Once I receive my top secret mount, I'll let you know. This will have to suffice for the moment. Oh, and I used adhesive felt for the areas that rub.

The kit comes with pads that stick to the back of the holder to keep it from rubbing the bumper. I have checked the areaseveral times since install and have not noticed any scratches.

You have to drill three holes into the bottom to mount the "Swift" bracket. But even if the bracket is removed the holes are not visible. I would say it should fit the 1LT also, the bracket has quite a bit of adjustment built in.

Wasn't that Swift hideaway plate $30? I see it's $60 now. Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Thanks for the idea, I finally gave in and installed the front plate today after seeing your post. We have a 1LT/RS and the lower grill is a bit different than the SS. I installed round felt pads that are used on chairs and placed them on the lower inbd mounting holes this cleared the entire assy from the car. Then I installed the clear tubing over the zip ties where they rub against the paint. So far so good. Hope this helps others with the LT and LS's

So far, Zombie's idea seems the best. The only problem is that I had to install a bunch of felt in the "forks" of the frame to prevent it from chaffing the black plastic grill webbing.

I should have Round 1 of my custom bracket on Monday. It does use adhesive, but it is non-permanent (meaning it will not destroy your paint). Stay tuned for a write-up late Monday or Tuesday. Round 2 (the colored part) should follow shortly thereafter.

Also got my personalized plate reserved today.

I installed the Swift Motor Sports hide away bracket, plus I got my personalized plates yesterday "WB'S RS" looks GREAT and the $60.00 was well worth it to not have holes drill on the front face of my car.

Simply put the two screws through the existing plate bracket holes and attach to the lower grill be means of the vinyl washers and the spring loaded anchors. Easy on and off for shows.
Great Idea I will use this for mine in BC, Thanks. What a stupid law anyway.
