Heater core finally took a crap on me.
The good news is, I was given a GMPP extended warranty last year free of charge, and I am still covered under warranty even though my 3 year 36k bumper to bumper ran out. If I wasn't covered, it would have been an 1800$ job to fix it. Just thought I'd share, make sure you 2010 guys check your heater cores!

What kind of symptoms did you have? I got the one way valve added to stop gurgling but I still hear a metallic whooshing noise on acceleration.

At first I would smell a very slight/faint coolant smell when I was driving around town. I figured that it was excess coolant burning off from when I did my heater hose relocation and spilled some inside the engine bay. Then it started getting worse and worse, to where I could smell it any time I messed with my defroster or heater. Then it got to the point where it was unbearable to turn the heat/defroster on inside the car. The entire cabin smelled like coolant, and I did some research and saw that a few members had their heater cores go out. Took it to the dealership this morning and they called me back within 3 hours to confirm it was the heater core.

Some fail some do not. Must be a supplier problem.
If this happens to my LS I will not be buying another GM car ever! I can't believe the engineers made this heater core design nightmare. My classic Skylark had two bolts on the firewall and the core came out, hardest part was removing the hoses........
