I think you may have mis-interpreted what I meant by the fuel pump starving of fuel...regardless of the grade of fuel, if you are going WOT on a low tank of gas, the gas can slosh around and cause the fuel pump to not be able to pull enough fuel out of the tank to give the engine...and I'm sure you know what happens when the engine runs way too lean when you're WOT...bang

When I would drag I would make sure I had about half a tank before heading there. By time I got there I had more than 1/4, but less than 1/2. I only put ethanol free gas in my Camaro also. If I had to get ethanol gas, I only get Shell premium. I would make at least 3 passes in both the V6 or SS and still have enough to get home and get gas.

Here is my prep steps I took for both my V6 and SS:
Gas tank at proper level with ethanol free gas or Shell Premium.
Empty windshield washer bottle.
Carry air gauge and have small air pump from trunk with me charged.
Check a few things before leaving such as oil, tires, and car.
Remove back seat.
Empty trunk as much as possible.
Leave engine cover off
Drop tire pressure.
Run with AC off, radio off, and all windows closed.
Cool car off for about an hour before making a pass with hood open.
Turn car off every chance get while waiting in line as well as leave hood open.
First pass or any first passes after cooling off drive around water box, back rear tires just barely into it, and do a small or decent burnout depending on conditions to clean tires off and warm them up.
Passes after that still drive around water box, back rear tires just barely into it, and do a small burnout to keep tires cleaned off.

Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

The ZL1 has extra fuel pick ups in the tank. Not an issue for the z

The Z has the better fuel pump. Even CTS-V drivers are putting it in their car. I wouldn't worry about fuel pump issues in the ZL1's until less than 1/4 of a tank, but closer to 1/8. It was built with racing in mind and a lot of racers don't run with a full tank.

I was by no means saying run with a full tank, I was just giving a word of caution toward starving the pump. I am aware that both the 1LE and the ZL1 have extra fuel pickups, once again though, I just just giving that word of caution to not run run your WOT while the gas is too low. If you run 3-4 times with a 1/4 or 1/8 tank of gas you won't have a whole lot left in there to pick up. I'm done now, proceed

Thank you Greg. Don't be done now, you barely talk as is lol. I will try holding the brake down and revving the engine up before take off maybe get it at 1500-2200 rpm before the light turns green

I agree don't run WOT if you're at 1/8. If you are more than 1/8, but around 1/4 play caution in all cars regardless of fuel pumps.

If we were racing for money. Yeah. Empty the car. Mine is going with whatever is in it when i get there. I'm not racing the car that much after this. And I dont care if I lose.

No it's not. That's barely what the true drag racers do. You want great times, then those are some steps to take. Leave the back seats, that's fine. But that engine cover holds A LOT of heat! It is a sound deadener and holds in a lot of heat. I've done temp tests with and without it.
