Magic Mount for Phone and GPS

I've browsed a few threads about where to put your iPhone or a good way to mount your GPS. Some people have been very creative in their quest for mounting with style. I've wanted to do the same, but haven't had a lot of time to make a solution. For now, I've found a nice, inexpensive little mount for my iPhone and GPS. I found it at Walmart and it's called the "MagicMount" by Scosche. It's magnetic and there are 3 styles sold by WalMart (other styles can be found online), a flat/flush mount ($11.95), a rotating mini bracket ($14.95), and a larger goose neck bracket ($19.95). I chose the mini bracket style and mounted it on top of the MyNav frame. Those without MyNav system can mount it on the dash or elsewhere. It is a non-movable solution since it doesn't have suction cups.

It comes with 2 different size thin pieces of metal with 3M sticky tape on one side to put on your phone, case (inside or outside), back of your GPS, or whatever device you want to stick to the magnet base. The magnet is pretty strong and can hold tablets as well. I stuck the bigger metal piece to the back of my GPS, and just placed the smaller one inside the back of my iPhone case.

Here is the packaging:

Here it is mounted on top of the MyLink frame:

It swivels and can be tightened so it doesn't move too easily with car motion, but can be shifted left/right/up/down by moving the device you have attached to it.

My Garmin GPS attached to it:

I have the plug wrapped around the side of the MyNav frame and then into the 12V socket for now. When I pull apart my shift cover plate I will wire it more permanently and more out of sight.

Since I was taking pictures with the iPhone, I couldn't take a picture of the phone on the magnetic mount, but it looks good as well and can be placed in any orientation. A standard 3-foot USB cord can reach from the USB port in the console to the phone so I can charge and play through the USB instead of Bluetooth. I will probably get a 6ft cable and wire this nicely.

Just sharing another solution to the storage/space issues in the car. When I get in the car now, I take my iPhone out of my back pocket and stick it right to the mount quickly and effortlessly instead of dropping it into the cup holder (if it's not full) or doing the seat crotch vibe!
