WITH 615 RWHP.

I've beat my buddies slightly modded 2013 CTS V and a handful of other cars that had better power/weight ratios then myself.

Furthermore the GTR is rad but its also very much so not a "drivers" car. My buddy has a track edition and my girlfriend was able to achieve a similarly fast 0-60 as he and I. But I guess some people like the relatively low skill level that the GTR requires to get going.

My 2 cents is that A) you are lonely because you are not involved in a GTR forum B) You found a car YOU like because it goes when you push the pedal or C) You want to spread the gospel that if you spent 110 K you can go faster.

piss off unless you have something CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY.
I'd say he's been saying some of the most constructive stuff in the thread.
Maybe not everyone agrees, but it's possible the OP will never be satisfied with the ZL1 and before wasting time and money on it, it's good to have some insight.

Just like people get angry in the V6 forums when people tell them to trade up to an SS... it might not be what you want to hear but it is still helpful
And same thing with SS forums getting told they should've bought a ZL1

This is not a Nissan thread last I checked. I come on here for camaro related topics not some dude who had a zl1 preaching the gospel of a GTR. Or any other company for that matter. If you want to throw out there "oh hey I have a ford 5.0 aswell and that car is pretty great" thats all good. But to come on and tell about your failure of driving a standard transmission with rwd 600 hp MUSCLE car and say that you should probably spend 60 k more for a different car.

This is meant to be a constructive forum were owners can discuss issues, mods, experiences. Not a place for telling someone they made a mistake. He clearly has something wrong with his vehicle if he can't beat an ls1. Just like I can beat a slightly modded cts v he should best that ls1 with no issue.

So unless GTR fanboy wants to "troll for unicorns" go on the gt500 forums. We don't need your Nissan jock riding BS.

Being constructive would be finding the root of the issue. Not selling car for gods sake. If that is an acceptable form of constructive help this forum is dead sir.

Im really disappointed with my ZL1 performance

Thanks for all your input, I didn't intend to start a war here, Ever since I laid eyes on my first ZL1 I knew I had to have one. Sure there was a huge hype on how fast it did at Nürburgring. And 580 hp wow! Fact is I love this car. I'm happy I finally got her, sure it seems she needs tuning. I didn't buy her to be a drag car. No one person or a group for that matter can change my mind on the fact that I'm a Camaro junkie, I've owned four and plan to get more! Again thanks for everyone's ideas and helpful insights.
PS. I'm in VA too!

Popped the fuses out for about three hours. Put them back in and took a drive. Put it in manual left the paddles alone, traction control off that's it. From a dead stop. She will roll the tires and hit second but it doesn't hit second very hard at all. I did finally hear my SC whine. Third is where I feel the most pull. All in all not much change to me. I left the fuses out all last night maybe I didn't wait long enough.

I have a 2013 ZL-1 Auto, I took it to the track bone stock it went 12.2 116.

I too felt the car was underpowered from the factory with the GT500 having 650 Horsepower

After the JRE 75 RWHP tune package is went 11.66 122 on the factory tires it could go faster with drag radials

I had to gently apply the power off the line to prevent spinning.

Another member has been 11.00 125 ish with the same power package on Drag wheels and tires.

This platform has a ton of potential and I have the Recipes for several levels of performance.

I focus on a total package that is reliable and consistent and well balanced with the chassis.

I also Road race this car frequently over 5 hours of Track time so far without a single glitch.

If I can be of assistance shoot me an email tedj@jannettyracing.com or give me a call 203-753-7223

Ted.

I'm calling BS on "deep 10s" with a factory warranty. I'd love to know how you did that without flashing the computer. An auto and bolt on ZL1 can go 10's and has plenty of times, I'm not disputing that. However, it's not the norm.

I loved the looks of my ZL1, really I did. The car just was not fast enough for me. It lacks traction, power and is overweight. All issues that a fast car shouldn't have. I'm glad you guys are still enjoying your cars, even if they're slow :p
Again, sorry to the OP for getting off topic. Again, I would Dyno your car at reputable shop that knows our cars and see if there is a problem.

Back to BPG. No-one said 12.7 was fast, just comparing baselines runs from one LSA powered 2-ton Ride to another with similar stock performance numbers, and where the potential is with bolt-ons . And yes the V was under warranty with a seperate PCM and dealer installed package. Way off topic.

Now let's talk about your ZL1 since this is a ZL1 forum. Over 600 to the wheels in a M6 and it still didn't perform. Is that correct? If so, that could be the driver, track prep, or DA. All play a factor. Every 1000 DA slowed the V down by 4- 5 mph with over 100 passes on the same track. Sounds like you can't drive a manual and jumped into a Ride that didn't require that skill set and went fast?? 11.3

Dump more $$ in Godzilla put your foot down and you will go faster. I like those cars but every Driver that I know that bought one eventually sold theirs because they missed driving. Sounds like you jumped from one car that required driving into one that didn't and love it.

Wait, don't you have to downshift with the paddles to get into first gear? Autos start out in second gear.

They only start out in 2nd if you have it in D. He put it in M, that lets it start in 1st.

I recognize some people like different aspects of automotive performance and I won't bash that (even though the GTR is 23 on ring times vs 47th for the ZL1 ). I actually do like all aspects of "fast cars". I just wish the top Camaro wasn't playing catch up to the Hellcat. My personal opinion is, if you are a mid 40's dude with a low-mid level management job and a wife you bang one or twice a month with a 100 shot golf game, the hellcat is your kind of car. Everyone else should drive something cool
great read thanks guys lol, ohh n BTW BPG Ive seen way more wannabe cloned GTRS than there is Z's out here in Los Angeles.!! to the OP hope you find out whats wrong I too have A6 Z but dont have any issues i spank both my friends C5/C6 vette's with ease now his Zo6 is a different monster but great thread

Thanks for the clarification, wasn't sure if after shifting to M if it was required to downshift using the paddles.

Well I'm also in L.A. and I see fake ZL1s almost every day so...
Not to try to bash. I love both cars but there are tons of V6 and SS Camaros with ZL1 bumpers or rockers, not as many misbadged but they are out there.
Maybe you just didn't notice some of those ZL1s were not actual ZL1s.

Instead let's talk about how many Mustangs out there say GT, Shelby, Cobra and 5.0L and have single exhaust tips (;

Throw in $700 for 90mm down pipes to round out the "full bolt on".

What were the mods on the ZL1 and price?

Heavily modded to me is in the alpha 9 range. In which case. That ZL1 would have barely been able to make out GTR tail lights
That's me in the red ZL1, the GTR I was racing made 800awhp, I have less in my car than a used GTR! I've beat a few GTR's in the 1/4, 1/2 & 1 mile, honestly in a 1 mile race they don't stand much of a chance. An experienced shop can make the ZL1 perform, for alot less than your making it sound, a ZL1'S stock tranny & rearend will take 1000 rwhp, I know as a fact you have to put in close to an additional $100,000 into a GTR to get that, the stock stuff won't get there. I have friends that own them, I've driven them, very boring if you ask me, way to controlled, driver change makes hardly any difference in a GTR, just push the throttle & let the computer do its thing.
