cam motion camshaft ready for install

wish me luck everyone. my 2010 l99 will be going under the knife on monday to have my new cam installed. i wanted a cam the would be converter friendly and one that did not require double wound valve springs. called up kip from cam motion and told him what i was after. kip was awsome to work with! this is what he came up with 212/585/220/575 116lsa. this will be an ls3 conversion and vvt delete. i will post up numbers when completed. current mods are in my sig. anyone want to take a guess on numbers? hoping to crack the 400 range.

Mine is going under the knife this coming Monday too with a Cam Motion cam. Dropping it off on Saturday. Just packed the Camaro up with all the parts.

I'm curious about your guys motivation for adding a cam. Power, of course. I get that. I recently completed a typical Bolton package with typical results: 424/419.

I LOVE the results. Power, throttle response and a nice sound, but not too loud. My ARH LTs with HFC feed into the OE catback with NPP. Very happy with the current sound and don't want it much louder for a vert. But....

More power is always better, right? I'm intrigued by the opportunity to add another 50 HP with a cam. Do you have to do other mods with the cam for reliability? From my reading about cam specs, there is obviously a wide range of options out there. How do you narrow the choices? I'm not trying to build a race car but rather a stealth cruiser with a little something more. I'm mostly concerned about going too far. Comments?

If I install a cam, it would be a cam motion. Kip really seemed to get involved to help out with the cam whine a few people were having. Especially on LS1 tech. I want to, but still hesitate about installing a cam after some cam and lifter issues I've seen on the forums.

received some good news today! my tuner/installer called me and gave me my final numbers. 421 rwhp and 400tq. says driveability is awsome! i thought the numbers were pretty good for a smaller cam. thanks again to kip at cam motion who answered all my questions, and designed a cam that is exactly what i wanted.

Narrow the choices by deciding what you want to do. I wanted a cam upgrade with a hard torque pull throughout the entire range and a nice lope that was still drivable. I wanted the torque gain more so than the peak HP. More for the street than the drasgstrip, though I do run at the strip occasionally.
I self-installed a custom Mike Norris Comp cam this summer, a very driveable 224/236 114 grind with a nice lope (slightly shakes the car at idle ). Upgraged trunnions, dual valve springs, push rods, underdrive pulley, 160 degree thermostat.
Motor is married to ARH 1 7/8 long tubes with hf cats and Borla Touring catbacks. Sounds awesome, and not too loud. Tuned and pulled 461/439. It used to pull like an animal, now it pulls like a monster! Love it...

Great choice and great numbers man! This is my exact goal as well, and will have Pat G spec me a cam for similar results. I am hoping for closer to 445 - 450 RWTQ(lofty goal), but as you also know as long as I have usable power and torque in the lower RPM's I will be happy(#'s aren't everything). Do you happen to know the lift of your cam? Also do you have a dyno graph, I would love to see your TQ curve(sounds dirty ).

Thanks man.
Lift @ .050 (base) is .359 intake and .358 exhaust.
Valve lift is .610 intake and .608 exhaust.
I will have to scan in the dyno sheet, when I do I will post.
Its all about the torque, man! Next years's mods are a ZL1 rear end to handle the torque/HP and 3.91 gears.

That's a super mild cam but you made the right choice. Cam Motion is second to NONE in camshaft design & quality.
