Finally got my Borla axle back installed! - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I installed Borla axle back exhaust today. The installation went smoothly, and the results were what I expected. Definitely a more aggresive sound with the S type replacing the stock mufflers. Honestly though, sound was not the reason I wanted to replace the stock mufflers. I did not like seeing the aluminum cans from behind the car. Problem resolved, and the meaner sound is just a bonus. Adding a CAI tomorrow. That will be the last mod I do on my 2SS/RS ABM M6 Camaro, at least for now. Still an outside chance of adding rally stripes in the future, but she's so hot as is, may just leave her Au Naturale

BTW just over 1300 miles now and after installing the Borla's today, I am driving her a little harder. Break in time is just about over, and it's time for her to show her mean streak! I've had blue just over 3 months now, and am very happy with my baby !

So do you pick up any extra power from the axle backs or just a meaner sound?

I never promised video or sound clips, sorry, I won't be posting any. Just wanted to share that it does sound good, and it was a pretty easy install. I just backed her up onto a pair of ramps. The muffler is right there, really don't have to get under the car much at all. The hardest part was wrestling the stock mufflers off the hangers, then wrestling the Borla's on. limited space up in there. Less than an hour on the install though, and I'm happy with the new meaner sound!

How do you think they compare sound wise to the videos of the Catback systems?

I'm considering these as well and wanted to know if it sounds the same. I like the sound of the catback systems, just wanted to see if I could save some $$ and just get these and have that great sound.

The video clips are only as good as the audio card on your computer. They pretty closely represent the actual powerful sound (on my desk top) my Borla's produce, but nothing like the real thing. I have since then, next day actually, added a G5CR (Gen 5 Camaro racing) CAI, so my SS - LS3 is sounding really mean now. As far as noticeable power increase, it really is hard to say because from the first time I drove this car I thought it was very powerful. I've never had a CAI on one of my vehicles before, and was a bit concerned that the CAI would be really loud. I was honestly shocked that it made little difference in "air" noise at idle. All I can tell you is that she sounds great now. She sounds like what she looks like now, a powerful machine. I am done as far as mods go now. The only other mod I may do later is a Hurst short throw shifter, but thats not gonna happen any time soon. I hope I've answered your questions. You will definitely be happy with Borla axle backs, that much I know for sure!
