360 forged and they weigh 55lbs with the tires. ill have to double check when i get to work. i wrote down the weights of both sets of wheels.. the stock wheels and tires weight somewhere around 52-53lbs. not to mention i have 295 rears and 275 front over the 245 front 265 rear with the 20's. plus my wheels make me stand out in a crowd when ever other camaro has the midnigh silver or polished 20's.

You sure on those weights? The stock 20x8 front rim weighs 30 lbs and the stock 20x9 rear rim weighs 32 lbs. The stock tires are supposed to weigh 31 lbs front, 35 lbs rear. That's 61 lbs total for the fronts and 67 lbs total for the rear. Your tires HAVE to weigh more than the stock tires so even if your tires are just 5 lbs heavier that would put them at 36 lbs front and 40 lbs rear. So if your whole wheel weighs 55 lbs, that means in the rear the rim would weigh only 15 lbs? I don't think that's possible in that size, even for forged.

I'm looking at 3-piece forged in a 20x9 that will weigh about 24 lbs and those are HRE caliber rims. If you have time and it's not too much hassle, try removing one of your rear wheels and weighing it again; I'm guessing more in the 70-75 lb range. Be interesting to find out.

What tires did you get and what size/profile?

im sure on my weights and im including the tires in these weights. i got the weightso n the stock wheels back in february from jong fitzpatrick. thats when i went wheels shopping. and yes my wheels are as light as the stock 20's. my wheels weigh 55lbs a piece with the tires. stock 20's weigh 30 something a piece per wheel not couting the tires. they are around 54lbs for the rears and 52 fronts. and thats counting the tires.

Okay exactly WHAT model rim in what size, and exactly WHAT tire brand in what size INCLUDING the standard 3 numbers, i.e. 275/40 20 for example. If you've come up with a combo that's that much lighter than stock, and 2" bigger rim, I'd be very interested in a 20" version. Share the wealth!

+2" on any car is probably ok. the black one above on 360s is beautiful. 22s look perfect on this car to me because its a big car with big wheel wells.

Doc, a larger wheel size tire doesn't mean that the tire weighs more. The 20" and 22" tires share the same OD. If the width is the same for both, the 22" tire will actually weigh less than the 20" tire. This is because it has less sidewall rubber adding to the weight.

as a rule most guys are very misinformed about wheels and tire in general,
a good 22" combo could very well be lighter than the stock set.......the problem is for performance a 19" combo would be best but way too short
for the large Camaro wheel openings.........20" require a 40 series tire
and look heavy and chunky with the large side wall, I'm going to do a 21"frt.
22" rear for steet and a ultra light 20" pkg. for the track.

Yeah I realize that which is why I'm trying to find out exactly what he has. In his earlier post he'd written "...not only are they taller but they are wider and i can fit a 305 tire on the rear" which to me indicates bigger in every way. If he's able to go bigger in every way and it's 10lbs lighter than stock? I want to know what they are.

One of the key factors in my "to do" list of mods is weight reduction. The lightest high performance, all-season street tire I've been able to find in a 275/40x20 size is the Toyo Proxes 4 which weighs 33.3 lbs. The rims I'm looking at are 3-piece forged in a 20x9 which weigh about 25 lbs. From his description it sounds like he's gone taller and wider than that. Even if his tires weigh the same as what I'm getting (33.3 lbs) that means his taller and wider rims weigh about 21 lbs. I want to find out what he's got if in fact they are that light. 360 Forged what? Which one? What exact size? What tires? If he's found a better setup than what I've been able to find, I'd sure like to know what it is!

He has split 5ives and I assume they are 22x9.5 and 22x11 which were the sizes we were looking at.

We are not sure what the direction we are doing yet either..

Split 5ive is a stunning wheel and we have considered it as well.

Thank you and those are VERY close in style to what I'm looking at from Nutek; their 505. The Nutek in a 20x9 weighs about 25 lbs. I'm just finding it very hard to believe that a larger, wider rim in almost the exact same style weighs 4 lbs less. Nutek is forged too.

I'll investigate the split 5ive's, thanks for the info!

Okay after doing some fast research it looks like there are 2 5ive's; one is forged aluminum and in his size starts at about $1,500, the other is a carbon fiber composite and uses titanium fasteners which would explain the light weight, however in a 22" they are about $2k EACH. Since the aluminum one doesn't seem to have anything really different from the Nutek wheel, I'm guessing he went with the CF one? That's the only way it could be that light. That's a LOT of coin though just for a set of rims on a $30k car.

I'd still like to know what tires he chose.

yes they are the 360 forged spec 5ive. yes it is a 22x 9.5 front and a 22x11 rear. i never said it was 10 lbs lighter than the stock. i said it was just as light. i am running a vredestein 295/30/22 rear and a 265/35/22 front. yes it is possible for larger wheels to weigh less than smaller wheels. my wheels are forged and are also 3 pieces. where as the stock wheels are 1 piece and much thicker. looks at the spokes on my wheels. very skinny. look at the spokes on the stock 20's. very thick. thats where most of the weight is on the wheels. also the hus on the wheel holds alot of weight. im telling you, i am not lying to you and i have no reason to lie to you. do research before you buy wheels. most companies will give you whatever information you want about the wheels you plan on buying. remember you getwhat you pay for also. i paid a pretty penny for my wheels. these are not an "off the shelf" wheel. the cheaper they are, the heavier they may be and the weaker the wheels itself.
