Talking SCCA Solo Autocross Events _PENSACOLA AREA

Is anybody in the Pensacola area interested to participate in monthly SCCA autocross events? Events alternate between Pensacola and Mobile each month. Events are Saturday 8 am to 4 pm. $40.

Next event Saturday August 23 in Pensacola. Must pre-register. Only 35 cars taken each event and normally 25-30 cars show up. There is also a second event on Sunday the 24th as a prior makeup date so you have twice the opportunities to run the course. Pre enter both events and save $10.

I am the only 5th Gen to regularly show up and would like to see a few more of my fellow brethren show up. Message me for more information and I will send you an invite and registration information.

There are 3 local chapters of SCCA in our area. The Gulf Coast Region and the Wiregrass Region and the Dixie Region. The GCR seems to stay in Pensacola-Mobile area and the Wiregrass Region seems to compete near Dothan Ala. The Dixie Region competes at SGMP and at Moultrie Ga.

Here are the websites to each region. The GCR region doesn't publish their events as they are invitations sent out via mass emails. You sorta have to contact them first. I don't know much about Wiregrass except where they compete each month. I hear Wiregrass has more muscle cars competing than the GCR normally does. I am usually at the Pensacola-Mobile events but if somebody wants to run the event at Dothan I would make the trip over and help out with whatever knowledge I have to compete.

Damn, the Wiregrass events are just way to far away, so I traded in the FRS for a more comfortable Impala, and set the Camaro up for mainly straight line racing. Strange rear, drag coilovers, drag swaybar. Might have to try a P'cola event just for grins.

2014 season is winding down. Only 2-3 more events left this year. Don't think they compete in nov-December in GCR events.

With a few more suspension mods and dropping down to lighter 19" rims on a 285 square setup (STU tire size max) I hope to get into closer to the top 5 in PAX in these events. Ran 11th in PAX last event.

Attached is a go pro video of one of my runs.

I'm impressed. I never saw the 5th gens do well in the Wiregrass events. In fact, working the course between runs made me feel embarrassed to watch the 5th gens run. They're no Miata's or S2000's...in fact, they're more like TWO Miata's/S2000's LOL!

Sadly, I would probably win the race to kill the most cones in the shortest amount of time
