I had the defenderworx locking fuel door installed on my SIM - you can find the install instructions here http://www.defenderworx.com/images//...uctionsint.pdf

Note that the installed clip on the locking housing causes the door to stick up a bit so the left side of the door will not be flush - its a slightly uneven but still looks great.

I took one of the keys and put it on a lanyard placing this in the driver door storage to grab easily and the other on my key ring.

I recommend NOT giving the key to the gas station attendant but doing it yourself so they don't scratch the door or force the key.

Vigilance comes at a price of doing the above to keep your ride safe from door/gas thieves and uncaring gas jockeys.

That one's ridic. expensive, stant makes caps that just have key locks, not entire gas cap doors with locks on them.

Here is a bit of information and advice for you guys.

Locking gascaps are great and all, until your car needs it's emissions testing.

Back when i was a Mechanic, one of my duties was too emission test vehicles. Locking gas cap fail a huge majority of the time due to crap design and gaskets used.

KEEP your old gascap "unless it truly was junk" for th eonly reason to swap out when your vehicle needs the E-test. otherwise, your car will fail "high percentage, but not all the time" and they will sucker you into buying one right then and there so you can have your testing done.

This goes for ALL vehicles.

BTW stant locking gascaps have a incredibly high faliure rate after 1 year, i cannot count how many times i have failed them.

Some a$$holes do that around here too. Haven't heard of it happening in a while but take no chance! Buy a locking cap!

I have tried the Stant 11504/10504 locking gas cap, and so far so good. It is slightly longer going into the neck than the factory cap, but there seems to be enough extra length in the filler neck to handle it , and has not thrown any codes in the half dozen times I've driven with it installed. The lid closes fine.

The 11504 is packaged different than the 10504, but Stant says it is the same part.

I bought the defenderworx door more for style than protection, I wanted the brushed chrome door and was focused on detering a "trophy hunter" from easily steallng the door such as the GM model (yes I run the risk of vandalism to pry the door off but I live in a rural area).

If I wanted protection I would've went with the locking gas cap..

+1 - as the manfacturer they could at least post MSRP - they leave the pricing to their dealers eg chevy mall, http://www.camarocollection.com (15% off first order using code SBWC79), etc.

Edit...$12.60 on Amazon.
Not sure how to link to this thread but here is the info from Badger.

This one I take it? I may just have to order this one. Has anyone else tried this yet? Sorry for reviving such an old thread but this might save some people a whole wack of cash to protect their gas lines!
