I'm too tall to hit the key, I'm ignoring the recall as well.

I had to sign a decline paper at the dealership when I took mine in for service. My friend has a Ford Fusion, it has an identical key and has no recall.

Received my letter in the mail yesterday. I signed a waiver at dealership a month ago turning down the replacement.

I declined the recall at my dealer. They didn't give me any problems and I did not have to sign any waiver.

So you're trying to tell me that your insurance company checks with GM to see if you've had all your recalls done before they pay a claim? I'm not buyin' it.
I have a buddy who ignored a power steering recall on a Cobalt. His daughter wrecked the car because the power steering failed. He was afraid that the insurance wouldn't pay the claim because someone had told him the same story, but they did.

The Equinox has the exact same key fob. No recall

I got my recall notice today. I am convinced that it is not for a defective lock mechanism but rather to protect GM from defective people. Someone on this forum posted that he could turn his car off by bumping his key with his knee. I beg someone to show us a video of that! I will not have the recall performed on my key!!!

Me and my friends where laughing about the recall but one day a few months ago I was driving and they were in the car and it turned off while going 40. Luckily the car is standard so I just turned it back on... But it happened and I have no idea how! When we got back to my house we all sat there while I tried to repeat it but I couldn't! Hasn't happened since so I'm still keeping my key fob but apparently it can happen...

I was driving my 7000+ pound Silverado on 40s on I-95 and power steering pump chit the bed. I drove it home. I'm sure if the car turns off on it's own, I'll be able to get it restarted. If at that split second a semi careens into me and my air-bags don't deploy, then I guess I was meant to go.

However, that has not been my experience. Much like the cockroach, despite the world's best efforts, I am still here. Hell, I don't wear seatbelts most of the time. Why would I worry about this.

I am 62 yrs old, I spent half my driving years driving cars without air bags. What's the big deal? No way I am going to let them touch my key. We have too much of a mommy state any more.

Kids can't even ride their bicycle any more without strapping on all sorts of pad protection, helmets, etc. America's soft.
