How much discount on 2014 ZL1

Hello, I'm looking to purchase a ZL1 and since there are no changes between 2014 and 2015 except for a color, I'm wondering about the possibility of getting a "deal" on a leftover new 2014. What's the prevailing thought on this tactic? Is it smart or does the accelerated depreciation outweigh any potential savings?

I've found one at a dealer who has it listed with the current $2500 factory discount. How much less do you think they should go below MSRP? And I'm very ignorant about something I read here called a "Private Offer" what is that? How does one get it?

I feel like I'm just a few thousand dollars away from being able to own this car so every little bit helps. I want to be fair to the dealer and myself so I'm not sure how the pricing really works on a leftover or how it works on a ZL1. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

If you belong to a credit union, check to see if it is listed on mygmdiscount.com.

I was able to save an additional $2600 off the list price and also was able to take advantage of the $2000 cash back offer in May.

Several ways to get pricing below MSRP. Credit Unions (as noted above) typically have pricing below MSRP. Costco Gold members get reduced pricing (couple hundred above dealer cost from what I've seen). Aside from that, it's up to you to negotiate a price you are happy with. Don't be afraid to walk away.

You can also talk with someone like Becky (Becky from Rodgers Chevrolet, she is a member here) and see what she can find and offer.

Nice! The 2630 off was just through negotiations? You purchased a 2014? Congrats.

yes just through negotiations. I took the plunge last night because ive been tracking inventory in the LA area for the past few weeks and theyre selling quick. I had to have black and at the beginning of the week, there were 7 black 2014's available. by last night, down to 2. one wanted sticker price minus the $2500 incentive. the other dealership was willing to work with me so I worked out the pricing over the phone and once we came to an agreement, I drove down to pick it up.

I paid MSRP for my 14. And I was happy to do so. I wanted the Ashen Gray and could only find 1 with the options I wanted. I had to go with Black and even that took 3 weeks for one to pop up with the options I wanted. Auto/Nav/Sunroof/Recaro's.

The MSRP of yours is about $2000 higher than the car I'm looking at but I just emailed the dealership and asked if they would match your deal. I'll reply when I hear back!

I buy a lot of cars. Always work with 2 or more dealerships at a time and make them compete for your business. Look up invoice price on edmunds.com and shoot for that.

Thanks for your help here, the salesperson I'm in communications with did reply yesterday (Sunday!) just to say he got my email and would let me know how it looks today when he returned to the office. Assuming we reach a happy place on the buy price, what's the best way not to get screwed on my trade-in? I looked up my car's value on Edmunds using trade in (not private sale)...is that a true gauge for what I should expect?

Thank you,

My experience is that for every dollar they take off the sale price, they take $0.75 off the trade in allowance. Earlier someone said to be ready to walk away, and I think generally speaking that is great advice.....However, '14 inventory is starting to dwindle and if you get a "fair" price, don't lose the car you want over 500 bucks.

most dealerships nowadays use the kbb trade in value. i normally dont trade in but people i have negotiated for have traded in and that's what they use.

Not to thread hijack, but what does everyone think a good deal is on a 2013 ZL1? There's a dealer near me offering one (brand new) for $49,500, sticker of $59,000. I figure they need to come down to at least $45k? I've seen posts on here and people have a hard time getting $43k for a 2,000 mile or less 2013 ZL1.

Well, the dealer replied to my email asking for a matching deal to wickedpsi's deal...they were willing to go $2000 under MSRP so with the $2500 GM Incentive that makes it $55,285 + Tax & Fees. I'm not terribly happy with that deal but I've not yet mentioned the trade. I have some numbers in my head as to what I'd like to pay over and above my trade so I'm going to see if that can help bring it down a tad...but we are very close.
