Point was, minor things sometimes get swept aside if they're hard to reproduce or if they're not affecting driveability.

End of the day, you should see your dealer, it would be great if they fixed it, but dealers can sometimes be a BIG headache and a big waste of time. Just be prepared for that.
Yeah, I don't want to break things just for the sake of it.

I figure, I have a warranty, and I need anything that will fail to fail asap, so I need to put it through it's paces.

I'll be dropping it off tonight, getting a loaner, so we'll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

OP, I would have made someone ride with me and duplicate the problem. I run a used car lot. I bought this car and when I drove this car, it had a shudder and if I gave it gas, it went away, no CEL. After driving this car around 700 miles with the shudders, finally the car started missing more, CEL flashing, then it ran fine, CEL went out. Got back to the lot, checked the stored code, which was #4 miss fire. Turned out to be a bad coil. Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone for your support.

This was the second of two cars (out of many) that got it's hooks in me as soon as I saw it. I'm lucky I was cool enough to handle the financing right, but I should have had it inspected by an independent mechanic first (though I have no clue if this issue would have shown). Problem is, I don't know a trusted mechanic where I currently live.

Anyway, I went to Lester Glenn...any experiences here?

I wrote down all that I could on the envelope, left my key. I'm going to call them in the morning, get an idea of how long this type of thing should take...and mention I forgot to put I wanted an oil change (can't do it where I live).

The guy at the loaner location said, "Oh, you drive a Camaro? We don't have something like that....we have a Mazda3, and an Impreza."

I went for the "3 Series" and I seemed to find some of the Zoom if I play with it's sequential manual mode. But just one Zoom.

Given the context, I should have realized you meant torque converter.

Twice I've had people suggest that my issue was cause by Traction Control.

Other symptoms that may or may not be related:

Vibration in reverse after having sat for several hours (the oldest symptom).

Delay shifting from 2nd to 3rd under hard acceleration (recent, and only two or three times)

Oh...and they had a nice, white Z/28 there. I'm sure there were other fine examples of Camaros, but I didn't look around.

It sure sounds like classic symptoms of a bad torque converter.

I've only had my Camaro for 10 months. If this has been a building issues all this time, and it gets fixed, I wonder how much if a difference I'll feel (other than no more shuddering).

Early on when the torque converter started acting up on my car, the dealer told me the same thing cannot duplicate the problem. After a few months it go really bad I took it back to the dealer I got firm with them and told them, I was afraid to drive it because this problem was going to cause an accident. They replaced the converter and my car has been great since. I see you are in Jersey. I take my car to Reedman Toll.

After they replaced the clutch in mine I get HORRIBLE jitter in acceleration in first and reverse (mostly in reverse). I'm guessing it's because of wear pattern, but they all just roll their eyes at me at the dealership.

Well, I just spoke with them.

I got irritated on the phone, but reigned it in by the end.

They said they drove it 10 miles, checked and saw no codes, so they see no problem.

I said how it needs to warm up more, and how it happens often, under specific conditions. He said it may be bad gas.

He suggest I come in when the techs are working, to go for ride with them, that perhaps I drive "more manly" than the tech (...what?)...the whole conversation was going bad. I was going to go in tomorrow morning at 7am, but told him the car needs time to warm up for this to happen. I also can't risk my job over this.

So, I said, "Sure, it's probably the gas."

I'm not going to argue. Not sure what my next step will be. What is funny is, I have been using the same gas station (Exxon, Premium) for about as long as this has been happening. Hmm...could it be??

Oh, and by the way, TWICE he said they took care of my recall for me. I anticipate a deconstructed key/fob. Glad I still have the other one.

I have to drop my Camaro off, for an appointment tomorrow morning. As they put it, it's a "drivability issue". (For more details, check out my topic describing the mystery problem)

My fear is that I'll get a call tomorrow afternoon saying, "We couldn't find a problem. Come pick your car up."

Any suggestions?

If they feed me that line, my first thought would be to insist they keep it till they do, though I don't know how that would fly.

Being with them for a test drive won't be an option, at least not until Thursday, even then, that is pretty iffy. I wanted to get my Camaro off the road as soon as possible to have this issue looked at.

NJScorpio,

Sorry that your dealership experience has not been the best. I understand the displeasure when dealing with a matter like this. Although you're seeking opinions from others, I'd be happy to communicate your concerns with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at your dealer. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you would like to discuss this further, or if you simply want this matter documented. Keep us posted on the diagnosis .

Sorry to everyone who has to deal with multiple topics on this issue, but I couldn't find this thread earlier.

William R., I'd appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue. I have escalated it to GM corporate (I will PM you the case number), but was advised I will not hear from them till possibly Tuesday (understandable). I contacted my local dealer, advised them of what is happening, and asked for an appointment tomorrow, so we can attempt to get this problem resolved through their service center. I was told I'd be getting a call confirming my appointment (still waiting).
