  • The 2015 Mustang is now roughly only 100 pounds lighter with comparable models. -Advantage Mustang
  • While gaining some weight, Ford added a little more power. So the Mustang with equal driver will still be a faster in a straight line than an SS Camaro. - Advantage Mustang
  • The Mustang has an even nicer interior than before, the Camaro is still sad for the money. - Advantage Mustang
  • While Ford did alot of work with braces and IRS, from the online reports so far the GT PP will still not be able to catch a 1LE with equal drivers. - Advantage Camaro
  • The Mustang driving quality experience has been improved. - Draw (The Camaro used to have an advantage here)
  • The Mustang added new options unavailable on the Camaro. Although if you want a sunroof, the Camaro is the only choice. - Advantage Mustang
  • The Mustang has more Engine choices. - Advantage Mustang (Although we are just comparing the GT to the SS.)
  • The track upgrade naming is GT PP versus SS 1LE. - Big advantage Camaro
  • The Mustang still is easier to see out of. - Advantage Mustang
  • Braking? Ford has improved the GT PP with 6 piston Brembos. - Most likely advantage Mustang
  • Transmission/Shifting? The Camaro used to have an advantage here, the first reports are saying the Mustang is improved. - Call it a draw for now.
  • Pricing? I compared a base manual GT PP and Recaros to a 1SS 1LE with Recaros. The Ford was $3,000 cheaper. - Big advantage Mustang
Can you think of any other meanaingful comparisons? I'll bet Ford went over the list with a fine comb.

I disagree about the the mustang interior looking better design wise! But that's just me because I don't really care for the new challenger interior , like most do! But I do like the new mustang interior but I don't like the center stack unit . It remind me of the old 80's BMW and other car center stack! And it's missing gauges like the Camaro has and all of them had in the 60's and 70's ! Plus where's the HUD display?

Guess I'm not a man because i drive a camaro ss AND a lifted badass newer Ford f250 6.7 diesel I'm damn proud of. Purchased it brand new and now at 69k miles with zero issues. I will keep not being a real man then. Looking at selling the ss and stepping into a used 13 Gt500. Man am I glad I'm open minded and get to enjoy a little bit of everything different brands offer :-)

It would be boring if we all drove the same type of car. I prefer Chevys because I've owned several that were problem free for over 200,000 miles.

I've been burnt by buying a 1st year of a new platform car before so a 2015 Mustang is not an option. I did buy a 2013 Mustang GT last Saturday that already had the shaker scoop & Corsa exhaust. Fun car, faster (straight line only) than our Camaro or SS Sedan. My 1st mod for the Mustang will be 15"/Brembo 6 piston brakes because the stock brakes are horrible.

Last time I checked this is a Camaro forum not a Ford forum, so glad you can take joke. Also I was unaware that you know me so well that you know every car I've owned and like. But thanks for the story on your truck and future car plans, it was a

You're quite welcome for the story "bro", I got more too (cars and stories). This is a camaro forum but non the less no one has to come on here and badmouth other brands while havinga civilized discussion. All brands have thier pluses and minuses and I appreciate all brands especially domestic sport cars. It just gets old with some of the uncalled for remarks but I can clearly see your maturity level.

Very nice indeed mr monte. I too considered a new 5.0 before the ss and might end up getting one or as mentioned a used gt 500 if I can swing it (would have to sell the ss). Im waiting to see what the 6th gen is going to do before I make any moves unless I get a killer deal but not likely.

Nice, best bodystyle for the mustang. Wait till you tune it and add a few bolt ons

Great point about the HUD. And interior, besides usability and features is, in the eye of the beholder. I too don't like the new Challenger interior. But I have not seen in person the Challenger or the new Mustang. But from the testers who have seen it say the new Mustang is a big imporvement. So given the general percepton is the older Mustang is just a little better than the Camaro interior, we should give the nod to the Mustang. Many will disagree.

I think the Camaro interior has a more interesting design than the Mustang, but the materials look cheap. The radio design should be more conventional. I am glad Chevy spent the $$ on the chassis and drivetrain. A nicer interior would just be nice to have to me. More important to some.

My 2011 imo had a cool layout but yeah the materials were extremely cheap.

I had not heard that about the GT 500. I might have to switch brands. Turbos are the future for muscle cars IMO.

The verdict is in, if you want the most fun car to drive and the fastest on a racetrack, keep your 1LE or get yourself one. Let's turn the question around. Will 2015 Mustang GT owners want to trade for a 1LE or keep their luxo barge? (Just kidding.) Really cool test for MotorTrend. Camaro the clear winner. The Mustang forums must be buzzing. One MT comment was they would have loved the Mustang if the 1LE as not part of the test.
