Says not legal in CA? Not like much is legal in this state, but does that mean CA Z/28's are coming in and being delivered with a different setup? Going to have to stop by a dealer who has one and ask to take a look under the hood....

Anything not validated and tested on each specific model year car and drivetrain and ECU tune automatically voids a CARB certification on a different model year without going through the process. The LS3 aint a factory installed LS7=illegal.

Did you just like the way it sounded having a Z28 part on your car? Clearly there are far better CAI's out there.

In that case ill sell you a stock SS intake for 1/2 that price. You will save $200!!

Quite funny really. Everyone always bashes K&N on here, but since this part is associated with the Z/28...it's the best.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think he's talking about what I touched on earlier (see my 2nd comment above). 95% of the people on this forum bash K&N all day long (the Z/28 intake was designed and built by K&N); however, now that this intake is associated with the Z/28, it's the best thing going. It's actually hilarious. BTW, I'll wait to see testing, but I believe for the price, there are better/cheaper options.

the nice thing about the z28 cai is that the filter is oil free.

I bash the other K&N intake too because it deserves it. But that has nothing to do with this. Thats like saying don't buy the Camaro because Chevy sold the Metro. Who cares? How is it in any way relevant? It's not.

This intake doesn't heat soak, it's plastic. This intake seals to the hood and gets cold air. It appears to have an integrated velocity stack which most of the aftermarket stuff doesn't. Overpriced and quality are 2 different things, people buy overpriced exhausts and other parts all day long on here. I don't care what it came on. Hence my request for actual facts instead of biased and subjective opinion, or considerations other than price.

His statement was about quality. Based on? All I hear is crickets...

The most loved intake on this forum heat soaks horribly but god forbid anyone mentions it or talks about facts/data logs from people using it at a track and not opinion based purely on subjective or incomplete data. There hasn't been a single comparative dyno run of this intake or IAT temps compared but its somehow inferior to other offerings because it costs more. Price is the sole criterion for better. Ok. Got it. Price a factory SS intake assembly or catalytic converters. Anyone who thought factory performance parts would be cheap was smoking crack.

Thanks for proving my point. I never said it was best or worst. I asked for facts and you have none.

To my knowledge there is no comparison data, or you would be showing it yourself.
So lets just use some common sense here. When has a "factory CAI" on ANY car been better than a Top quality Aftermarket CAI?
It may be a decent intake for factory if you already have a Z28, but for $400 to spend why would you choose a factory intake?

You didn't say it was the best no, I agree you didn't.
But when a guy chooses to spend as much as the Top Brand Aftermarket CAI's but on a factory CAI, raises eyebrows.

To each his own if that's what he likes but not a wise HP/$ choice in my opinion.

Why not the vararam? It's clearly the best design with the lowest temps.
