if its a built motor im pretty confident he will get in front of you. having said that if the gearing is stock in that elky, that will even things out a good bit. but let me ask you this. how much wheel spin do you run into on your camaro?

Im willing to bet Camaro wins. Honestly I dont think its even a question. 2.52 gears???? Thats terrible and it has no weight in the back so its gonna be skipping all over the place.

I would think a generic small block El Camino is a 14 second car just like your Camaro. Even if he has slicks and does not spin the tires, it will likely be flat coming out of the hole unless he has a stall. It will have as much to do with the drivers as anything. If you really want to take control, put a 100 shot on and blow his doors off.

I can say this because I'm not *really* a fan of El Caminos... but, even if he wins, who goes home in a new Camaro? You do...

I find the comments that GM 3-Speed automatics are dogs quite humorous. I wil make note of that on my next sub-11 second pass!

Apples to apples, and gearing doesn't lie. A stock TH350 isn't exactly something to write home about. Build it up to handle the extra torque, add a stall, increase the gearing advantage, sure...then it finds a better home in a competitive setting. Notice the OP never said anything about the transmission-- so we are assuming it could be stock.

Your right.....and the TH350's were fine behind 400 HP or so, but we always used TH400's in the Camaro, and yes with a converter. I get your point, but the hell I have put those through over the years with a stall, valve body and some new clutches make them rank pretty high in my book. And the majority of these transmissions came out of cars form the demolition derby at the county fair (because they were free)! I still think the El Camino takes the Camaro....I hope they actually do the run.
