Car port gate width
Hi everyone,
I'm gonna try and build a car port at the side of my house which involves knocking down part of the perimeter wall in my garden. I'll need to cut out a section of the wall in order to drive the car into the garden area. I'm looking to get this work done whilst my car is being shipped over from the US so at the moment I don't know what the exact width of the car is including the mirrors. Does anyone know the exact width of their car including clearance for the mirrors? Now where did I put my sledgehammer... Thanks, Pete |

My Euro Spec document says 1917 mm but a quick measure, on my own and in the rain looks more like 2080 mm mirror to mirror. Keep in mind that's 2013 SS euro spec - mirrors are different to US though.

I fear I'm going to have the same problem Pete; we've just bought a lovely old place near Stratford on Avon and I reckon I'm going to have about 35mm clearance each side as she goes in. Won't be letting the wife park it...

I've just measured mine, which is US spec & Rick is pretty much spot on, so mirrors whilst different, there doesn't seem to be much difference in width

I think it's going to be too tight.

Take your front room down, I'm sure your missus will see it's obviously the sensible option

Pete - my problem as bad; tried my SS in the garage at our new gaff last weekend and I've got 55mm clearance either side. Was wandering around Maplins earlier and saw a wireless reversing sensor kit and it got me thinking about adapting it to go on the door frame but its not got the fine adjustment. Anyway, picture attached hopefully of squeezed in motor.

Solution: steel beam lintol, knock out central support, double garage door.
Oh and don't forget to move the dogs bowl!
