I haven't done anything visually yet that's next on my plate. I still need to get Bluetooth fixed. I have a bunch of apps like snes emulator, sling player, Netflix, what I'm really trying to find out is how to force some apps to download on my sd card. Has anyone successfully had a external hard drive read via usb? Or what about a game controller?

Best I have done and tried is a thumb drive. Never tried an external hard drive.

What are some of the apps you are trying to force?

Bigrob,

I just did a little research and wonder if this is the problem you are running into:

"USB-OTG

A phone is a bit different, though. Sometimes you want it to act as a peripheral: for example, so you can plug it into a PC, so the PC can access the phone's storage. Sometimes you want it to act as a host: for example, to connect a physical keyboard or mouse to it. This is why many Android devices now support USB host mode as well as USB peripheral mode: they can act in either rôle. But how can you make this work, when a host's USB socket is different from a peripheral's?

This is where USB-on-the-go (OTG) comes in. It adds an extra pin to the micro-USB socket. If you plug a normal A-to-B USB cable, the device acts in peripheral mode. If you connect a special USB-OTG cable, it has the pin connected at one end, and the device at that end acts in host mode.

This can be a little confusing if one cable has seemingly identical plugs at either end, which do different things. But cables with USB-OTG at both ends are uncommon: it's more common to use an adaptor, which has a host-mode USB-OTG plug at one end, and a rectangular USB-A socket on the other. You can plug a normal USB cable into this adaptor, and it will work normally.

Conclusion

The names refer to two different parts of the USB technology, but they're very similar. After all, if a device "supports USB-OTG," it must support acting in "host mode". The converse is often the case, but not always. Most Android devices that support host mode do so via USB-OTG, but there are a few counterexamples: the original Asus Eee Pad Transformer, for example, has USB-A sockets in its keyboard, allowing it to act in host mode without a USB-OTG cable. And of course PCs support host mode without USB-OTG."

Looks cool, but function comes first and this unit seem to be slow and laggy as HELL!

Can anyone confirm that this IS the case or NOT the case?

I'd like to get confirmed if the unit indeed is laggy and slow.
In the videos I've seen the touch is so slow, because the resolution is obviously too high for the CPU/GPU to render smoothly.

But the videos might be old and outdated.

There are at least 2 different systems out right now. A 2.3.4 OS upgraded to 4.0 and now a 4.0. Not to mention the differences with the optional RAM available now. So no one person will have the same typical experience.

Personally I have a 2.3.4 upgraded to 4.0 with 512 RAM and 4GB hard drive. Mine is the lower end model when it comes to the above specs and I have rarely had an issue with lag. Now if I am trying to open and install 5+ apps I run into lag, but would on any android.

Buggy: My only issue yet to be resolved is the Bluetooth clarity via phone, many others do not have that issue.

With research, communication and help from here I have fixed every other issue.

I have heard the newer model works without any figment or bug problem.

Thanks for the info.

Too bad its based on such outdated OS as 4.0.

I will have this in consideration. It is defintely the best aftermarket kit available so far to keep the original look and feel, but the Metra kit will allow for even more customization.

With the latest model - will ALL onboard functions work (strg wheel controls, hvac, out temp, backup camera etc etc) ?

Thanks for the info!

With Android now officially in the mix now with brand name stereo makers I do hope things will get better. Just released is a Clarion AX1 in Malaysia.

No to all features. Outside temp doesn't show but he is working on it. Some say the steering wheel call feature is a no, I don't use it so I don't know. The rest yes.

Does anyone know where apps are installed in the system and how to delete them ?

For example installing a newer version of Torque Pro requires deleting of the already installed version, but I cannot find the program in the file explorer

Thx

Bnorman thanks for the info! I'm going to try the usb otg cable I ordered one off amazon just to try I'll update everyone when it comes in stock. As far as the Bluetooth connection Lim said that the Bluetooth icon is separate from the Bluetooth setting in android and that BTARM should show on your phone when in the Bluetooth app and you can connect to it. I've tried everything I can think of. It worked at first but I had to remove the unit and install a different bracket that Lim had sent and now it no longer shows or connects. I've had a good 10 email back and forth convo with him and sent him video and pics of the issue. It connects to the phone and connects to obdII but won't connect to the CARDVD and won't show BTARM so not sure. Hopefully it's something that can be reset or restored versus sending back to him. It was nice being able to stream music and phone calls while it lasted lol

I Sent him an email to start this problem solving, I also noticed I can't scroll through playerpro music anymore and calls don't initiate. So I will see what happens, I also asked for an update. I'll keep you posted
