LOL i keep getting asked that myself, i don't have mine yet, i'm waiting on the 6th gens, but i'm working to finish paying off my current car before that happens and then hoping to get about 10k down payment. My credits not the greatest but i think if i order and put 10 grand down they won't say no. Was debating trading in my current car for one since i don't have to take anybody anywhere ever but idk i just feel like i should keep a more family oriented car for those trips i need it. STill on the table though If i can pay off my current and trade in with 10 grand as well i'll really be set for a 2SS woot

No family members have said anything to me yet which is good but once they see it they will ask those dumb questions and get the look thinking mommy and daddy bought it for me lol. A lot of people at work though asked and I said it's a lot cheaper than you think. Got a good deal on my trade in and also put a small down payment on it. Hard work and saving made the purchase a lot easier.

With good negotiating, good credit, they really don't cost as much as someone would think.
Whomever assumes a 1LT is $40K just doesn't know Camaros and or is just isn't car savy. No offense or anything, but you can tell the difference between a LT vs an SS or 1LE.

Only a small percentage of drivers really care. Outside of the domestic enthusiast community, most drivers see a car with good design and assume a much higher price. It helps them sleep at night when they pay more for a mediocre product while we must have paid double or more for something irresponsible, excessive, or otherwise ridiculous.

Im sure the average person does not go to every company website to get familiar with trim levels

21k out the door for a basic 1LS without a spare tire seemed about right when I bought mine last month.
Gee,on second thought, I could have bought a Kia !

Hey guys. Its my second post here, and my first one outside of my intro...so dont slaughter me lol

Shirt story is that my daily driver got totaled. Some old lady cut in front of me and bam my 04 Crown Vic sport was smashed in the front. So i needed a quick replacement car to go to school (Phd Student, so i make some money but not a lot)

Still, i looked around and after comparing prices i ended up asking "why would i buy a cruz for the same money i can get the Camaro?"

so 23k after taxes and title for a 2LS, with no fancy options (i hate touch screens and stuff like that) that now gets my 24mpg with half highway and half city and this is in north Jersey.

Got it as a lease, found a great dealership that dealers swapped one to get me mine in red rock metallic. the only non negotiable thing for me lol, and im loving it.

Yes, i have that knot in my stomach because im missing 2 cylinders...but the reality is i didnt want to pay a whole lot for a new car. 330 a month, 15k miles a year, i say is not bad. And yes, i have horrible credit (had a medical bankrupcy..so its possible..)

Life is more fun in a Camaro!

Oh, and i forgot the actual topic question lol...(damn pain meds make me loopy)

Ive had people come up to me and ask how i could afford it. In fact, my first day teaching at college, i got two tickets, and i saw the look the meter maid gave me like "you rich people and your new cars"

It pissed me off since i was parked right, in the staff parking lot but oh well, got it cleared, and then laughed..he thought i was loaded, not a poor grad student with awesome taste in cars lol

You don't have to go to a car website to distinguish the lesser vehicle. Its blatantly obvious. And its not just Camaros either. That goes for the Tahoes, 300's, Chargers, etc.

It's the pricing that's current with the year we live in. In 1971, I bought a 1969 SS/RS with 19,000 miles for $1950.

I saved my money for years and paid cash for my Camaro. At age 58 and the Camaro being only my second new car I ever bought, it's was quite obvious how I was able to buy the 2SS.

I can see your point here but have to disagree to an extent... Put a fully loaded v6 with rs package and gm body kit next to a 1ss and see which car the general public thinks costs more. Yes anyone can tell the difference between a 1ls and a zl1, but there are many trims in between that are very grey.
