Solo Performance high flow cats and cat-back exhaust with j-pipe - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Just got my high flow cats and cat-back j-pipe from Steve at Solo Performance for my 2014 2SS/RS Convertible. Of course I immediately took it to my muffler shop for install. Here's a few things I thought were noteworthy.*

I had to haul the system in another vehicle. Not like I thought the kit would fit in my Camaro. But I did make two trips to the muffler shop. Drop shipping to the shop would have been a better idea.*

After putting the cats on and aligning the exhaust, it seems like there a 1/2 to 3/4" gap between the cats and the exhaust, if we aligned the tips to the tail. The online instructions said you could adjust the tips at the rear. So we pushed the exhaust forward to close the gap.

For whatever reason the clamps didn't seem to be holding very tightly. My shop prefers to weld so we ditched all the clamps except for the tail and j-pipes sections. This also allowed us to not worry with the previous mentioned gap.*

The first crank was incredible. I loved the tone and off I went. After about 20 min on the road I noticed a major rattle. Unfortunately it was after hours so I had to go back the next am. Turns out the mid section of the catback had very little clearance between the top and the lower sections of the car causing the rattle. So we added/welded two hangers to stiffen it up. This worked like a charm. Again I'm extremely satisfied with the tone of the Solo.*

The highflow cats are also a great addition. Not sure what the tone would be like with out them, but the combo is fantastic. Also I see no CEL lights and the added power is definitely noticeable.*

I have this combo as well...best sounding system I have heard for the SS.

I had the same issue with the clamps. Steve actually sent me new clamps, but when I went to have them installed they suggested the welding as well and I went with it. I also had the rattle issue at the midsection, abut it didn't manifest for 2-3 months. I did the same thing with the hangers and it's been fine.

The only issues I've had with the system, was occaionally the O2 sensors back out and throw a CEL, and need to be tightened. I got in the habit of checking them every oil change.

I also just developed a leak on BOTH flex pipes, and had to have new pieces cut and welded in there. I'm not really sure if this area of the exhaust was factory or SOLO, but it was kind of annoying and also threw a CEL.

good god that sounds amazing!! I WISH my V6 could sound like that lol! My friend has a SRT8 challenger and your car sounds as ridiculously beastly as his does. I love that noise, makes me giddy. Congrats on your purchase and enjoy!

I have the mach x lfx on my car with the stock cars. Eventually I want to pick up the HFCs. But I really like the sound.

I have SOLO CAT Back and love it. Sounds great and has a nice tone at idle but you can def hear the difference when I get on it.

I love my SOLO HFCs and exhaust. It was fun trying the J-pipes in different locations to change the sound too.
