MGW all the way...that thing is built like a tank and is dead accurate with shifting....have not missed a gear since...the extra cost is well worth it to do it right the first time...customer service is outstanding as well....highly recommended.

Definitely the way to go in the Camaro for short throw. Even had a few vette guys fall in love with it when they tried it out in my car. Quality materials and customer service. Only con for me it the cussing and bruised knuckles from the install if you don't access to a lift.

The stock shifter was sloppy. I have had my MGW for almost a year and would not go back.

What MGW setups are you using? Retro, ball knob?

Stock shifter here and it's fine and I drag race. Never a missed shift. The "driver" mod has a bit to do with it I'd imagine. Then again I've been racing 32 years.

Tru dat!

If you ever rowed a factory '69 Camaro shifter you know the current factory shifters we get now are light years ahead of what we used to have. Hard for me to understand what all the complaining is about. Throws are a little long but they work well.

I had the MGW on mine for a few years and it IS the best aftermarket shifter available BUT I pulled it out and put in a take-off GM factory Hurst short throw. MGW was fun but I wanted the quiet precision of the factory short throw. Most people here love the "click-click" between gears and NONBODY likes the "Baseball" sized knob on the standard throw GM shifter. I wanted a quiet, short throw shifter with a great feeling knob. Solution - The MGW "Race Knob" mounted on the factory Hurst short throw is the best possible combination for me. Looks great, feels great, works great and costs much less. JMO.

-Mark.

Here you go to take care of the driver mod:

Agreed MGW is the best shifter, although I can only say that from reading many posts. I do have the Barton from my '11 SS and it is much better that the stock SS and my 1LE/ZL1 shifter. I do like quiet so I want to use my stock 1LE stick like you can with the older SS shifters. I do not think Barton has a the bar for this yet.

The Barton has adjustable throw and is easier to install and cheaper than the MGW.

I drag race often and practicing as Ranger recommends does help. Still on occasion I miss a 2-3. Doh!

MGW > Barton > GM Short Throw

I use the stock shifter knob. Shorter throw, shorter in height too, I like it.
I just looked at MGW's site and it looks like they may have lengthened the OEM shifter knob adapter?
