I did this last day of school, rushed out to the parking lot, ripped three donuts in my 240sx, started my way out and two cops stopped me from front and back. He gave me a wreckless driving ticket, had to get a lawyer involved on that one to avoid a misdemeanor. Luckily got it knocked down to exhibition of speed.

Got cheers and thumbs up from everyone in my auto shop class and a bunch of randoms, it was worth it haha

I am still confused as to why this is illegal? I have done near the same thing a plethora of times, and have yet to encounter an issue.....

Did OP do it during school hours/busy lot time or something?

Probably because it is City/County/State property and it would be the same if you went to the country courthouse after hours and did some donuts....
